Guest guest
My top question is why has this doctor not gotten back with you a whole lot sooner? About sodium: I personally don't think that we can drink too much water, except if you're talking about 3 to 4 gallons a day, or something outlandish like that. I drink about a gallong or so a day, not including other liquids, and my sodium is always right at that last low #, just like yours. THIS is why I do not believe in a low salt diet for most of us thyroid patients, unless the kidney is sending most of it back into the body by that Loop of Henhle, in an abnormal way, i.e., mechanical kidney problem. In adrenal exhaustion, the opposite problem is where the salt-wasting syndrome exists: These people can eat a lot of salt, and the body just flushes all of it right on out with the urine because they do not have the ability to hold any intracellular salt. These problems are so intricate, when it comes to intracellular fluid and extracellular fluid, it's really a more complicated explanation than that. People with high blood pressure caused by kidney problems should probably not eat a high salt diet, but that doesn't mean that everyone even with HBP should not eat a normal amt of salt in their daily diet. The rest of it I'm not sure about at this point. Tx my latest test results-another autoimmune disease? > hi guys. I got my lab results. Guest guest
Hey there, Sheila... I'm no doctor and I'm not even close to the knowledge of , so all I can tell you is based on my guts and some sense. First of all, if it had been something even slightly serious your doctor would have called you right away. I think the abnormalities of your results are due to the thyroiditis or the infection you were having those days. Here in Italy it's another holiday otherwise I would have called my doctor friend and submitted your values to him for an opinion in order to make you feel better. Don't worry girl, just concentrate on the autoimmune disease you already have.. You are doing great on Armour and there are no other vicious enemies nesting inside your lovely body, trust my word. Guest guest
As far as I know, low insulin with normal blood sugars is totally ok. Better than high insulin, which indicates insulin resistance. And low sodium could point to... adrenal fatigue. Your bilirubin is ok, so probably no liver problem. Jan > hi guys. Guest guest
Hey Sheila, Maybe you do have hypopituitarism - how was your TSH when you were first Rx'd hypothyroid? Thanks for asking. I feel like crap. My endo said I don't have PCOS, I have high testosterone cause I am just too fat. So she put me on a diet pill and gave me 2 months to lose the weight. I am exercising to the point of exhaustion and trying to eat the least possible, but it is hard - so far I don't feel any appetite suppression on the medication yet. I am supposed to weigh myself tonight and see if I lost any weight. *sigh* The 175mcg Euthyrox hasn't kicked in yet, so maybe that will help. My morning temperatures are low, and that doesn't help the metabolism either. I am not the kind of person who does well under pressure. I am afraid I will fail - at 119lb my testosterone was still high (I had the same amount of body hair and acne), so the doctor thinks I gotta get lower than that, to around 106lb or less if possible. I weighed more than that at 13 years old. I think this is what I need to do to be healthy, and that I will fail because I don't have enough willpower to just eat less. Jan > Hi Jan, yeah, my labs could be a lot worse that's for sure. I was told that low insulin is not good either...even with normal blood sugars. but I'm glad my insulin isn't sky high, like you said. > > here's what I found to explain it: > > Decreased insulin levels are seen with: > > 1. Diabetes > 2. If I do that, along with continuing to avoid sugar, watching my carbs, and keeping my weight down, I may be able to save my pancreas. > > My PCP has mentioned hypopituitarism to me as a possibility.
