Guest guest
On the subject of sexual tranmission of HCV in sexual contact,as said the only way that it can be transmitted is through blood to blood contact. Let me tell you a little bit about my situation. My husband and I have been married for 22 years,23 in Jan. We never used condoms because " Well dang we are married and neither one of us has the child bearing problem " if you get what I mean. We are both sterile. When I tested postitive for the virus we had him tested. He is negative for the virus. Still is ,we had him tested again after I had been on treatment for a year. Our doctor said it is highly unlikely he will get the virus from sexual contact. But the condom is your first line of defense and if you feel you uneasy about transmitting the virus then of course use them properly. But as I said before if there is no Blood to Blood tranfer then it is not a problem. On getting sick with the treatment. Well some folks do better with the illness cause by treatment then others. Let me tell you it is alot of your frame of mind. If you go into it with a postitive frame of mind and listen to us and your doctors you should do fine. Number one take your shot before bed. Sleep through those side effects. On shot night be sure you have your trusty glass of ginger ale or water on the bedside table. I slept through most of the worse side effects and the one night that I was traveling on the road and had to take my shot I did okay. I curled up in the back of the van and napped. Of course this was near the end of treatment when the side effects are not as bad. But I traveled quite a bit while on treatment. By plane, car and so forth. I am no tougher than the next person, I just listened to my friends here. And I did okay. Yes you might lose a little hair or alot of hair. I lost quite a bit on the top of my head and on the sides. Had to do a comb over like a lot of balding men. LOL I wore cute caps and lots of hats. I became known for my hats. My daughter played soccer,I went to ever one of her practices and games. I lived my life like I normally did. Just at a slower pace. I had no appetitite but that was a good thing because I needed to lose weight. LOL be careful of after treatment when your appetite comes back with a venganance!!! Treatment is no fun but by no means does it mean that your life ends for 24 or 48 weeks. If you have a family member that is undergoing treatment you might want to go over and do a few little things like running the vac for them or maybe some of the things they don't have the enegry to do. It is enegry zapping. Take them for a walk,go to the mall with them so that they can look at the stores while they walk. (my favorite thing to do). LOL Temp controlled enviroment yeah that is the way to walk. LOL While I was on treatment I went to California 3 times,Alabama,Mississippi. So folks if this whiney baby can do it you can too. *smile* Oh yeah one of those trips to California was by car so imagine that. Don't mean to sound like I am preaching or anything but anything you did before treatment you can do on treatment, just be mindful that you are not superman or superwoman. Take time to rest, drink lots of water, juice and live life to its fullest!! Avoid alcohol, take this time to make some life changes like healthier eating, excersize more. The liver biopsy to me was more boring than anything else. It didn't hurt, the most uncomfortable thing for me was laying on my side for a hour. I was suprised because I thought it would be this big deal and it was a thump and thump and done. Was a little sore in that area the next day took off the bandage and I said " that little thing was the area where they did it?? " Hee Hee. Looked in the mirror and said you big wimp!!! I do that alot look in the mirror and talk. LOL Keep on coming here and we will help you and your family members through this folks. That is what we are here for.
