Guest guest
Wow. Luckily I was approved when I was waiting for a hearing. Did you go to the hearing? I was just curious as to how the lawyer knew unless you weren't there and they told him. I guess I thought you would have had to go in person...never really thought about it. Congrats! It's well worth the fight!
Guest guest
Hi Di, well, it must have been a shock…but a great one! Congrats, Aylwin xox _____ I was at the hearing, just confused about the results. The judge was talking about the car accident I had in 2007 and how it had significant impact. My lawyer and I talked outside the room and decided to amend the date of disability to the car accident date. We went back into the room told the judge. She said, 'the hearing is over.' I was lost and kept asking my lawyer when we'd get the decision. She told me I won.
Guest guest
I had Medicaid, they do not pay for much. My lawyer said I will have Medicaid and Medicare, so I will not have to pay the fees for Medicare. One Medicare kicks in I can schedule a spinal surgery. Any questions ask, I'm not shy. Take care of you. Big gentle huggles, Dimntd in Feasterville-Trevose, PA, USA ) Be the person your pets think you are. Jane wrote: Oh, BIG Congrats Di........Couldn't be happier for you. I know SSD doesn't solve any medical issues, but is sure takes some financial burdens down a bit and gets you medical insurance (if you didn't have it already?) Guest guest
Congratulations on your Social Security, Di! Having been through that process myself 5 years ago, I understand how stressful it can be. The approval gives you peace of mind, not only about your financial situation, but is also an affirmation that you're not a fraud or a hypochondriac (as the process can often make you feel). On that note, I was wondering if anyone else on the loop has been on Social Security for a few years. I applied for Soc Sec seven years ago, was denied, appealed, was sent to one of their doctors for an exam that had no bearing at all on my condition (they only checked my range of motion), was denied again, and finally got approved at a hearing. Now, 5 years after being approved, Social Security is reviewing my case. They sent forms for me to fill out (which I did), and now have scheduled another appointment for me to see one of their doctors. I just don't understand this process. I went through it 5 years ago, nothing significant has changed with my health (at least not for the better), and they want me to go through it again. Since my approval, I have added several other diagnoses to my lovely list (IBS, reflux, sleep apnea, hiatal hernia ), but I view all of these as symptoms of my CFS. The longer I spend hurting and exhausted, the worse my overall condition has become. It seems like Soc Sec is setting me up to have to go through it all again, hiring an attorney, getting a hearing, etc. Is this review process normal? Guest guest
Hi , and all, Well, I'm new at all this. I was only awarded in June of 2008, but in my awards letter, the judge stated I would be reviewed in June 2009 because there was the possibility that my 'condition' (CFS / FM) may improve over time??? Just goes to show how little they still understand, but with enough 'miracle cures' listed out there on the internet, it's no wonder they aren't certain about the prognosis yet!!!! I have a friend who is also on disability, but with Crippling Rheumatoid arthritis. She said SSD contacted her about 2 years into it, they first sent her a form, like you mentioned, then they called her, asked her about her health and she was scheduled for some surgery on her fingers and toes due to the arthritis. She never heard back and there was no break in her payments. She hasn't heard back since, and that was 10 years or so ago. Hopefully, this will be the LAST time they review you and your scenario will run somewhat like my girlfriends'. I'm so sorry you are having to jump thru more hoops, it is wearing on you and their doctors have NO IDEA about CFS/ME/FM, etc.......but I believe it is just the way SS works, to protect itself from abuse. And Lord knows, we all know that there are people who abuse the system. I'm assuming here, but don't they also get your current records from your treating physician too? Those records should carry some weight, right? Hang in there and know we are all rooting for you! Jane
