Guest guest
Sounds like it works pretty well to repel people...don't know about the insects. There is a homeopathic remedy for boils/cysts. I think it is silicea (sp?)Mara BTW- here is an interesting tidbit I unearthed- people used to eat these pills or even chew matchheads for the sulfur to repel insects. Now I wonder if taking DMSO will do it? Daddybob
Guest guest
I dunno, but I've noticed that I haven't been bothered much by mosquitos for a few years, now. Chuck Celibacy is *NOT* hereditary. > BTW- here is an interesting tidbit I unearthed- people used to eat these > pills or even chew matchheads for the sulfur to repel insects. Guest guest
Yes Mara, Silicea is a good remedy to expel "matter" from boils and cysts, abscesses and infections as is Gunpowder, prepared homeopathically - which of course also contains sulphur and apparently treats poison ivy and primula rashes, as well as wound infections. I have use it with great results. Jane Re: Sulfur and Cream of Tartar? Sounds like it works pretty well to repel people...don't know about the insects. There is a homeopathic remedy for boils/cysts. Guest guest
Well, now that I think about it maybe it does. The other day I felt a sting on the back of my leg and I noticed a tick crawling in the same vicinity. At the time I thought WOW that is the first time that has ever happened...a tick going to bite me and he doesn't like my taste...usually they latch on for dear life but not that time. I thought it was rather strange but could not think why the tick reacted that way but maybe it is the topical DMSO or the fact I've been ingesting it every now and then...hum? Guest guest
Lurking in this rather eclectic home 'pharmacy' of mine is a bottle full of powder called Flowers of Sulfur (sulphur?). I cannot remember the reason why I tracked down this stuff (whatever it was seemed like a very good one at the time!) It is apparently an old time remedy for all sorts of problems. I either found it at a local drugstore (best guess), or possibly online. If you could fnd this, I'm wondering if it could be mixed with some Cream of Tartar? Meanwhile, the suggestion for homeopathic silica/silicea is an excellent one. And then there's my favorite remedy for stuff like this----clay poultices! Someone mentioned Icthammomol? I just did a flashback to the age of 9. I had a boil and my mother packed it with " black stuff " ---had to be the icthammomol and the thing came to a head and drained. That's still around. Guest R. Blankenship
I remember these. Our doctor that my mother took us to told her to get them and give them to my brother for fever blisters. They really worked.
Guest Grandmac
I’m trying to find the sulfur cream of tartar tablets too. My brother and I used to have boils when we were young, mother would give this to us. I’m having them again at age 67! Will the silicea work the same. I can’t find the sulfur cream of tartar tablets anywhere.
