I know how you feel. I think it's very sad when so called " Christians''

use Jesus to beat people over the head.

I wonder what Jesus would do? The Jesus I know would wrap his arms

around you and hold you close to him until everything in you melted and all

that was left was peace because he loves you.

Dispite how we feel it's not how he feels.

The disciple, , told to take a little wine to help his tummy.

Now some preach it wasn't real wine, I don't think you have to be a scholar

to know it wasn't grape juice and how about water into very good grape

juice. I know, also, God does not like drunkedness.

I believe it does show that it was OK to take something to help an

illness but not in excess.

If they hint about not enough faith, just through yourself at their

mercy, tell them you know your faith is weak and ask them to pray for your

healing because you know their faith is so much stronger. You'll either be

healed or they will learn a lesson.

God bless you from your little nose to your little toes.

Hi Pamela: I too am a Christian and I take percocets for my pain.

We are supposed to pray for God's will, not TELL God what we want. I always

Thank God for giving me one more day. I Thank God for my medications that allow

me to function. I Thank God for the support I receive and the people that are

in my life that believe in me.

It is no ones business what medication that I take and why I take it. No one

controls me; i control myself.

First of all: I believe that if God didn't want there to be Drs. or medicine;

then there would be none.

Medicines were used in Biblical times; they just made their own.

Any medication can be abused, no matter what it is. Any food can be abused if

used in excess.

I would not be able to function if I didn't take percocets.

That does not make me a bad person, or an addicted person.

It means I am a person that needs some form of medicine for an illness that i

have.

If a family member had cancer or MS, would they take medicine for that? MS

patients often times have severe pain, many of my MS patients have significant

pain.

Why is a pain medication any different then any other medicine? Just because it

is an Opiate? That is ridiculous.

I urge you to try and manage your own illness as best you can by listening to

your body and what it tells you. Not what other people tell you.

Many of us have family members that do not understand or believe in our

illnesses. That is THEIR problem and should not be OURS.

the remark : " But you do not LOOK SICK ! " can be replied with: " Your opinion is

not my problem " . Another member posted that remark recently on this forum, I

believe.

When we are sick and do not look sick; we must realize that people are going to

be clueless and judgemental. However, we do NOT have to allow them to

interfere/control or upset us in any way with their values, beliefs, and

judgements.

Try and realize that if they had the pain that you had, they too would take

something to ease the pain.

We must all do what we need to do in order to function and manage our own life.

I hope this helps you and that you can emotionally distance yourself from your

families remarks.

It might be in your best interest if they did not know what medications that you

take. How about keeping them in the dark and not discussing your medication

regimen with them?

that would be a good way to sheild yourself from their painful statements.

Another's belief does not have to be your belief. We are all free to believe

what we want to.

we all need lots of emotional support and understanding. There are several

support groups that may help you as well. on facebook they have a group: But you

don't look sick? (i think that is the name of it.) The fibro and fatigue center

has a facebook group as well and that would be another resource for you.

I tried to email you privately; however, you didn't respond; therefore, my email

probably went to spam, especially since you have aol, that is a strict filter

system.

I would love to send you e-cards if you would enjoy them; however, you would

have to put my email into your address book.

Sorry so lengthy; however , being a counselor; i so often see families torn

apart by controling members and members that think they are helping when indeed

they are hurting.

Blessings to you

well I am christian I am on an opiate patch

I reckon that God will understand that I am in pain and that the patch helps me.

My family dont understand but most of them are not overly christian they just

dont understand full stop. They are not necessarily aware that I am on the

medications they just think that exercise will fix me etc and that I dont need

any meds full stop

I have come to the same conclusion with my family particularly with one aunt

Tell her only what she HAS to know put off qs about when I am seeing such and

such a dr. She has NO idea its not my fault about what happened with the med

interaction so far the dr who gave me the meds that interatced which led to me

being unable to wlak and in a wheelchair has NO idea what to do about it so we

have gone to a general physician to seek his opinion and will be going to a

neurologist in a couple weeks. My aunt does not know this but if they come up

with something important particularly if its an answer to why what is happening

then I guess I will tell her esp if it helps her understand why things are the

way they are the prob is that the new drs I am seeing may not hold the answer I

dont know is actually an answer. The other prob is that my rhemy (the one who

caused this mess) believes that I should have a neurostimulator put in I do NOT

want this I doubt this will fix the probs I have with mobility and in the state

I am in presently its too risky! Just the anaesthetic is enough to put me off.

My husband has been convinced that this procedure will fix me cure me of all

pain or at least help it and that if I wasn't in pain that I would be able to

walk I do not believe this is the case I think that there is either another

condition going on masked by the pain or that there was some kind of nerve

damage done. Overall I know I cannot diagnose myself I just have to wait to see

the neurologist and see what he thinks about it all. My physios both of them

dont think the neurostimulator is a good idea either. Does anyone else have one

of these?
