Well, I could have been knocked down with a feather when I read the following post from my MS Group: Subject: Stem Cell Therapy I received my Stem Cell Therapy on 6/21 ........ within 15 - 20 minutes my bluish black fingers turned pink !! Yesterday the swelling was gone from my bad right hand. My normally blotchy/mottled skin looks pink and healthy. My eyesight has improved and the whites of my eyes are VERY white My right eye used to be a little yellow in the corner. I am in a wheelchair for mobility. My balance is better .... I feel MUCH stronger and can maneuver and transfer with ease. I did not expect anything to happen for a few months. Pleasant surprise!! I am VERY excited about the possibilities of these little miracle cells. Other patients report better bladder and bowel control along with better walking and coordintion. The procedure was fast, simple and painless. The Doctors were wonderful. It was accomplished with a tiny needle injected in a vein. It was over in seconds The Nurse is adorable and very gentle.... found a vein immediatly. ********** MS is also considered an autoimmune disorder, so I am wondering if stem cell therapy will prove to be the " magic bullet " for all AI disorders, EN included. My mother has it, but has not sought out that particular treatment although she does contribute to the research. I thought it was just being done in experiments on animals or something. I am excited to know we are that far along with it. I wonder if insurance will pay for it? I need to do some research to see what is going on here. Parkenson's and MS are related, so I can see where a similar therpy could help both. Thanks for giving me this info, Terri. Fox, the actor and director, had stem cell therapy done at a hospital in Methuen, MA, the same town I grew up in when I was a kid.... (that was a long time ago..haha) He has had several treatments with it and from what I have read recently, he is doing much better. It is not a cure, but it sure does help steady them so that they can go on living with less symptoms. Hope this is a good sign for all of us with an AI disease. Jackie S. Re: OT!! Stem Cell Therapy?
