I was once taught, we back when, that not having sex while having

your period was a good thing for a woman because it is mother

natures way of cleaning house. It's not that I can't have sex, it's

that I won't have sex because I feel that is time better spent to

let my body cleanse itself in that area. Don't know how much good

it's done me all these years but I will continue

that " tradition. " )

Thanks for the recommend of black cohosh. I read some good things

and bad about it in the menopause group I used to belong to. I say

used to because I was just thrown out, bannished, from the group! No

if, ands, or buts about it! Was so surprised because I had no idea

why this happened or what I'd done to make it happen. Well later

on, when I was still able to get into the group and read posts, I

found out why and I think the moderator must have been having a

really bad day because I found a post that was from back in 04/2002,

that said she, didn't want any talk about this Dr. Lee. Well

I'd just read his website and him touting the benefits of

progesterone cream and shared it with the group because I couldn't

find any posts about it using Search, from within the group. I also

asked if anybody had used it and wanted opinions, good or bad.

Welll I guess she really doesn't like this Dr. Lee because that

is the reason I was thrown out of the group and my post deleted

LOL. I think it's funny and am now awaiting to join the group under

a new name! ;o)

, this kinda thing makes me love ya even more because we can be

so open and talk about anything in this group!

I think that the idea of abstaining from sex during one's period is

due to two things:

1) A woman who has her period is slightly more vulnerable to

contracting an STD. This would not be a good time to have

unprotected sex with a non-monogamous partner.

2) I think a much bigger factor is cultural superstition and

misogyny, reinforced by religion. Some anthropologists say that men

made up the theory that women are unclean during their periods

because menstruation made men feel that women were invincible and

they got jealous. (How can women bleed every month and not weaken?

they asked themselves.)

But to each her own! Sorry about your bad experience with the other

group. There are some real cyber-fascists out there.

I've tried and found out I am way more likely to have pain there both

during and after, so I will corroborate your theory. The light days,

like the first and the last, are ok, but all the other 6 (yep, I have

8-day long periods) are not good.
