Guest guest
what is your problem - wish you would cut the sarcasm! Potatoes vs Fruits hmmmmmmmm. not to be a smarty pants, but wondering how the SUGARS compare, and which is more of a Yeast -Feeder problem....as it is nearly impossible to keep with ie the SCD diet and NOT give fruits, and we are real Spud Fans. --- let's hear from mr molecular, our man Stan! Interested in your 'take" on this, if you would be so kind as to indulge! SCD means no gluten, no soy, no corn, no potatoes, no rice, no sugar, no "new" grains like quinoa (one of our favorites from plain ol' GFCF days). The book Breaking the Vicious Cycle contains recipe and menu ideas. Here's a sampling of what my son does eat: muffins made with almond flour or pecan bread with natural peanut butter for breakfast, spaghetti squash with marinara sauce for lunch, fresh fruits for snacks, turkey and broccoli for dinner. Homemade smoothies and popsicles and blended frozen bananas as "ice cream" for desserts. It gets boring (though now that my son's stomach is better, he is trying salad/raw vegetables, too), but we've thrown in pancakes and pizzas and cookies (again, all made with nut flours or nut butters). I know that some try to restrict fruits, too, but I don't think we could keep my son happy and healthy that way. I'm not posting to try to persuade anyone to go this route. I just wanted to give you an idea of what SCD looks like in one house. I'm a lousy cook, and my son LOVED his white rice and Cascadian Farms french fries as much as any kid could. We're making do, though. No big "wows" developmentally, but my son's digestive system is clearly functioning properly for the first time in years. He's more comfortable, and he's had a growth spurt besides. We're hoping that his gut is healing and that he'll turn into a "responder" as a result.JacquieNMS Brach <nanskiwans (DOT) net> wrote:>OK, you are quite the character fresh off vacation! > So, wheat and barley and rye and oats and corn are all on YOUR NO LIST, OK that is clear.> SO WHAT DO YOU FEED YOUR SPECIAL CHILD ON A DAILY BASIS??????????? You are free with the NO NO's and potato putdowns, so pray tell what you approve of---I still contend that there are PLENTY of gfcf, other ASD kids who eat potato chips and french fries! WHAT ARE NOT molecular messes? Thanks a molecular million.>>Stan Kurtz <stankurtzgmail> wrote:> The molecular structure of potatoes is just a mess.
