Greetings Pam

Did you just start taking the prednisone 17 days ago?

If you just started, this could be considered a normal side effect.

Elevation is the best thing.

ALL -

Those of you who have been on Prednisone, my feet have been swollen the past 17

days since I have been on it, swollen on top of my feet, hard & painful. Last

night when the swelling actually started to go down, I could see a lot of BLUE,

my feet are very blue all on top & around my toes. ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT

THIS? The doctor just told me to elevate!!

Thanks,

Pam

Dear Pam,

I don't know if the blue you are experiencing is due to the Prednisone

or not, but I have gotten a frightening color change to blue from

bright red when in full flare and very edemic. I guessed the blue was

pooled blood and in my own case elevation and use of the anti-embolism

stocking resolved it in a very short time. I think elevation is the

safest thing to try, and I hope you are able to afford the time to do it.

The weekend is almost here, " so shins " up Everyone! :-)

Love,

Hi,

I'm on predinisone but I am also on Plaquinil.. by taking both medications together I do believe it helps to relieve the swelling and pain. Plaquinil takes about 4-6 months to be effective according to all I've heard and read. But then everyone reacts differently to these meds. Keep your feet up as much as possible and if you can tolerate it, wear ted stockings or at the very least a support hose if you can. Sure hope you start feeling better.
