If the equipment and software is prescribed by a licensed professional

then I could be deducted just like prescription medication is,

If sessions are done by same then they are deductible as well.

I do no know what the IRS would say about services/supplies not related

to non licensed providers.

I would expect that equipment purchased

without a prescription or as part of a treatment relationship with a licensed

professional is probably not deductible as a medical expense. I would take this

up with an accountant but it would not seem likely that the IRS is going to

take your word for it that this thing represents bona fide medical treatment. We

sell equipment to our clients and this allows them to deduct their costs that

are unreimbursed by their medical insurance.

Subject: NFB Tax

Deduction

Does anyone have any experience using the training

sessions for medical

appointments for tax deductions? Also, has anyone purchased the

equipment and used it for tax deductions? We plan to do home training

and purchase some equipment. I was wondering if Uncle Sam would

question it if I put the cost of the equipment down as medical

supplies. So I don't know whether to buy it next week or wait until

2007. Your comments welcome.

I have worked with a number of clients who had set up " medical savings "

accounts and were able to include both NF training and equipment as

acceptable costs--at least as far as I ever heard.
