Guest guest
Dear Tracey, Is your Dad up and walking around with the EN or is he spending most of his time in bed and on the couch? I find that until one is in a full remission, the swelling can ebb and flow. For me wearing a support stocking helps--and the best time to put it on is when the swelling is at it's least usually in the morning after a long sleep. It is a matter of defination, but many of us --myself included--like to proclaim ourselves in remission when we are not quite there yet. The lumps subside and are cool, but the swelling is not gone down to zero yet. If I don't get the rest and use the stocking, I can start the whole cycle over again. EN does take it's own sweet time for me, and from what I've read, for many others. Love,
Guest guest
This happens to me all the time when I have a real bad EN flare up. In fact, I have my so called " special " socks I where to work then since I'm required to where either hose (no way) or socks to work. These ankle socks are so stretched out that they don't touch my ankles. Not pretty, but I wear pants to work and no one sees the socks. They work great for me and don't add the extra pain if I were to wear something that was not stretched. Zoo PS...elevating the legs as much as possible will help bring the swelling down. I've finally realized about 9 mths ago, you need to have serious rest with EN flare ups and/or swelling. If not, it will take forever for it to go away. > My Dad had a really bad flare up of EN about two weeks ago. Guest guest
zoo: when my pg leg tries to flare, i also get swelling in the lower leg. doc put me on an RX called Aldactazide/Hydrochlorot/Spironolacto....gosh, hate to have to type that, it goes all the way across the label. this stuff is great for reducing water retention in the lower extremities (and it is super cheap for an RX). reduces swelling and also has some positive effects in that is helps in reducing fibrosis on the heart. one of the very few meds i take with no side effects or long term potential problems. ask you doc about trying this. jeff > This happens to me all the time when I have a real bad EN flare up. > In fact, I have my so called " special " socks I where to work then > since I'm required to where either hose (no way) or socks to work. > These ankle socks are so stretched out that they don't touch my > ankles. Guest guest
Hi Tracey, Just curious, " Internal " Disease Doc or did you mean " Infectious " Disease Doc? Just wondered because I have never heard of an Internal Disease Doc. I have heard of an Internal Medicine Doc, I have one as a primary care doc. I had to ask, the difference is significant when it comes to autoimmunity. jeff > Jeff, > Thanks, I will pass this info on to my Dad. His right ankle is so swollen he can hardly walk. We are still in the diagnosis stage of why my Dad has EN. He went to the Internal Disease Doc this morning for his diagnosis. I am anxiously waiting by the phone. > > Thanks again for your reply. > Take Care, > Tracey
