Being thankful.

I guess my view on housework, spouses help, and the " problems " that

come from that are a little slanted simply because for most of this

year I have been homeless. How homeless is homeless? Well moving from

military barracks to motels to my car to sleeping on people's floors.

I never had to physically sleep on the street but I did not have a

kitchen, a bathroom, or even a bed. Everything I owned fit in my car.

And often I never knew where I'd be sleeping the next night. Also,

for the last seven or eight years my husband did not have a job. Only

in the last three or four months he has been employed, and only in

the last two weeks have I had a home.

So take the years of unemployment, plus being homeless and I can tell

you that I am literally jumping up and down for joy that he has a job

and we have a home. Okay, so he leaves empty beer cans in the living

room for me to pick up. The dishes are left on the floor, kitchen

counter, sink, living room, or where ever instead of put into a

perfectly empty dishwasher. Do I really care? Not one bit. I'm just

thankful that I have a dishwasher (my first one), my own dishes, and

a floor of my own in which to find said dishes.

The next time you get upset because someone isn't doing their share,

whatever you think that is, try thinking about how your life would be

like if you didn't have a home, dishes, a spouse, kids, pets, a car,

or even a job. From experience I can tell you that I'd rather find

dirty dishes in odd places than not have them at all.

Be thankful for what you have instead of wasting your time and energy

worrying about what you don't.

Bright blessings,
