Guest guest
Hi all, I'm looking for some insight into a case I've been working on for over a year now. I have a 33 y/o female pt who can't seem to hold onto K+. Unless she is supplemented at 100mEq/day, her lab values fall below ref. range and she begins having PVC's. She is being co-managed by a cardiac specialist who has her on the 100mEq K+. It is irritating her GI at this point and she does not want to be on it. She has been on a very strict version of the anti-inflamm diet since Feb. 08 which has definitely improved her GI sx's (what she originally came to me for). The PVC's had been happening to her on and off throughout adulthood, but she didn't mention anything. She happened to be having 6-10 skipped beats per minute one day while she was in my office, so I sent her for EKG. K+ levels have never been normal without supplementation so I don't know how long the PVC's and K+ problems have been going on. All other markers on Chem screen are FINE. Any ideas? Thanks, , ND Portland, Oregon Natural Childbirth, Pediatrics, and Women's health
