Guest guest
Dear Robin, From the article I got from the American Autoimmune and Related Diseases Assoc. yesterday, it is possible to have an allergic response to the foreign objects used in the knee replacement-although that wasn't mentioned specifically. With EN considered an autoimmune Disorder, we already have an allergic response to ourselves! Did you have EN prior to the knee replacements? From your " case history " I know you had EN after the 1991 replacements. Since you are allergic to " just about every pain medication " , it would seem logical that you have allergies to other things as well. Years ago you may remember that silicone breast implants were removed from the market after many women complained of getting Autoimmune disorders because of them. Big money was paid to some of these women by Dow Chemical who made the implants in question. Now they are considering putting silicone inplants back on the market as no studies have really shown a cause and effect. Of course, you knees don't contain silicone, but it is a foreign substance that you may be allergic to and which is aggravating if not triggering your EN. This is only my guess. You know I am not a health care professional by any means. I hope any members of our group who have any sort of implanted replacement parts will let us know how their EN fared after implantation. That really is a great question! I can tell you have a much more severe case of EN than I do. I only use bedrest for pain/malaise--rarely do I use medication. Have a great weekend! Guest guest
I wonder if fresh pineapple would be as effective as just juice? Any thoughts? Laurie
Guest guest
Gods, I hope the joint pain is'nt for-frikkin-ever. All I can say for certain is wha they seem to most often prescribe, Naproxen, is also sold Over The Counter as ALEVE. If the body's gotta act old, ya gotta treat it old, but unlike most old folks, pamper yourself, spoil yourself. Anyone who wants to be a cat in the next life, and you can get away with it, now's the time to practice for that, Lllllooouunngge and relax.
