Guest guest
I think this is a very good idea. I agree with Fred. I was wondering if it would be better to have the TFCA business meeting first, perhaps in the morning, and then start the regular conference sessions in the afternoon of the first day. And broaden the scope of the meeting beyond the business of voting for trustees. Everybody comes to the meeting with certain questions in mind that they want to have answered. Given the pace of the sessions, and the set presentation of the speakers, those questions may or may not be answered. I would like to see more member education. Having the smaller TFCA members meeting first, and as a less formal setting, it would be used as a place to hammer out a group of questions that everyone present would like to have answered during one or more of the following sessions. I think it would be easy to come up with a group of questions that everyone could agree upon. Not that that is a necessary requirement though. This process would generate a lot of discussion among peers on each topic, which would probably generate additional questions. The questions could be grouped under standing agenda items for the meeting such as: Current Legal/ Regulatory Topics in Transplant Finance Current Changes in Medicare: Parts A, B, C, and D Current Issues and Problems In Medicare Cost Reporting Current Ethical Issues in Transplant Finance Current Contracting Issues ( Includes patient co-pay issues ) Current Compliance Issues / Compliance Review And under each area, of course, there can be the needed repetition of questions and answers on the basic subjects that is needed by all of us until the answers finally sink in. The moderators could be sure and ask those questions at the end of each session. The same questions could be asked in different sessions as appropriate. Fred L. Guest guest
OR maybe a FULL day to meet, greet and discuss issues amongst us... Maybe an agenda can be done before hand so that the meeting can be more focused... Great idea Fred ! Guest guest
Fred, I think your ideas are great.... so, where were you when we were planning this conference and asked the membership for input, ideas, questions, etc? I'm sure your suggestions will be considered when planning our next TFCA workshop. A " roundtable discussion " was seriously considered for the meeting.... and we asked the membership, via the listserve, for questions.... But, the response was poor. As this was our very first workshop, we have learned from it. With the ideas and suggestions from the membership, we hope to improve the next one and incorporate more information and more " networking " time.... and time for those never-ending questions! Please be patient with us.... as we are in the learning stages ourselves.... all that said.... I feel that the workshop went well... and will be even better the next time! Guest guest
Eventhough I agree with Fred's idea I have to say that I also think that overall it was a very informative and organized Workshop. There will always be never ending questions as a said, this field of transplant financial issues is very extensive to cover in just three days. But, the idea that Fred has sounds excellent for next time. Now that a lot of us had the pleasure to meet and understand the importance of sharing our experience and expertise, we can present our ideas and opinions for the next TFCA. My sincere grattitude and appreciation go to all of the Board that govern our Association for their hard work in making this all possible! Guest guest
Hello, I thought the conference was very well done and was loaded with good information, one of the better ones I have attended because it was all finance related. Plus I had plenty of networking opportunities during the lunch breaks, and before and after each conference day to ask questions and have discussion with my fellow TFCs. I fully enjoyed the workshop and the gracious hospitality of the staff at the Hotel Sofitel. Thanks to all who participated in putting it together! Marcia J. Guest guest
For those of you who could not attend, I'm sure some of thehighlights of the meeting will be shared with you on the listserve and/or the TFCAwebsitein the near future. (not to mention June's photo of Tom Cruise!!) [Aguiar, ] Speaking of pictures, if anyone has pictures from the Workshop (or any of the social events) & wouldn't mind sharing them, please e-mail me directly @ LAguiar@.... We'd like to post them both on the website as well as put together a collage for the TFCA booth @ the UNOS Tx Mgmt Forum in Memphis in April. Thanks, J.
