Guest guest
Dear NFP family, Many of us never had the privilege of meeting Dr. Billings in person and thank him for his work but deep in our hearts he was our " spiritual father" in so many ways that have defined our professional careers and vocations. May we never forget his unselfish response to Humana Vitae and to Christ's calling in setting such a positive way of living to the fullest the Sacrament of Marriage. We will pray for his soul and for his family so Christ's mercy will extend over them. Gerry Sotomayor, MD Atlanta, GA www.babiesforlife.org See what's free at AOL.com. Guest guest
Kay Ek just phoned to say that Dr. Billings died at 7:50 AM April 1. No arrangements have been announced as yet. We thank God for his and his wife's courage and contributions to NFP over more than 50 years. As you know, his death was not unexpected, and the family have deep faith.. so let us pray with and for them. Guest guest
The Doctors Billings took a working vacation to Alaska back in the 90's and I was asked to be their driver back and forth to their hotel. It was quite a pleasure and honor as you can imagine. We had some great conversations and Dr. Billings told me I was a really good driver! HA, take that dh. Anyway apart from the wonderful conferences they gave, what I remember most was a quote that he told me. I liked it so much I asked him to send it to me and here it is. I think it applies to him and all nfp people who work against such odds. I still have it affixed to the bulletin board in my office, and read it from time to time: " All you have done was good. Be not downcast or cloud your heart with scruple. God will approve the work you have pursued with burning love, and all shall be made perfect at the last. " - McAuley May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. I thank God for him and his wife, such dedication. My prayers of consolation to her and the family and his many friends, especially those involved in the Billings OM.
