Guest guest
I'm sorry, sounds like my day. From: TxFinancialCoordinators [mailto:TxFinancialCoordinators ] On Behalf Of Hogan, Sent: Tuesday, January 03, 2006 1:51 PMTo: TFC group (E-mail)Subject: Medicare D Hi Folks, Just wanted to share my day. I have basically spent my entire day doing PA's for the Medicare D patients for all their "non-Medicare covered transplants immunos". Half the patients told me to call Medicare for the prescription information as they weren't really sure what plan they have. Anyway I can look forward to more of the same tomorrow. Guest guest
Yes, this is unbelievably time-consuming!!! I'm trying to take heart in knowing that we are a reliable source of info for our patients who can't get straight answers elsewhere. If you haven't tried this yet, I'm having pretty good luck finding out which plans our patients have by going to Medicare.gov (believe it or not). Follow this path: www.Medicare.gov - "Compare Medicare PDPs" - "Where would you like to begin?/Find a Medicare PDP" - "Personalized Plan Search" (you must complete every field before hitting the "Search Plans" button) on Financial Counselor Legacy Transplant Services 1040 NW 22nd Ave Ste 480 Portland OR 97210 toll free fax lmorriso@... Guest guest
Wow. Thanks for the tip . I'll look into that. I just got a call from a patient who is at the pharmacy to pick up her meds and they wanted to know what plan she now has. She called me because she hasn't had a mailbox so she hasn't received any mail lately and wanted to know what the pharmacist was talking about....What new drug plan....I'll try your method....thanks again!! Guest guest
the other good news is that at least one of our local retail pharmacists is not having any problem billing Medicare B and our state Medicaid program for immunos...but many of our patients and local social services workers do not understand that nothing is changing re: coverage for those meds so I'm spending a lot of time on calls from worried patients whose Medicare D plan doesn't cover all of their immunos. on Financial Counselor Legacy Transplant Services 1040 NW 22nd Ave Ste 480 Portland OR 97210 toll free fax lmorriso@... Guest guest
I just had a patient call and the pharmacy would not give him his Cellcept and Cyclosporine. I had to advise him that the immunos are still covered under part B…as well as advising the pharmacy! It will be a learning process and will certainly take some time away form our other work!
