That's great Sunil! And it will be greater still if you can share some of

the gossip that you must have shared together.

I joined the group a few months back. I fealt greatly encouraged initially to

reach out to people from my college. And I did send  a few contributions. Then

an overpowering inertia took over. Of course, I read all the posts.. There are a

few of you who appear quite enthusiastic about keeping the group vibrant. I

think there is a motive that  explains this enthusiasm: all the people who have

been contributing regularly have established a link (perhaps having known one

another has helped) which facilitates communication.  Sadly, this is  not true

in my case. Anyway, I appreciate everybody who has actively contributed to the

group.

I have decided to shake off the debilitating effects of  the inertia I referred

to. I would lile to post something every week. I would not mind even if I churn

out something ridiculous. Will you? It is not that I do not read or write. I do

a bit of both. My professional work demands a lot of time. I hope I succeed in

doing what I have declared so boastfully.

Dear All

It was an idea which bore fruit due to the desire and commitment from a batch

which had been creating history at all times.

Not long ago we had been saddened by the demise of our friend VC Vaidya and we

had desired that before we " kick the bucket " ...Why not meet again..

33 years is not a " jubilee year " but we could get together in Delhi and relive

our old times....Rajiv Tandon, Ajay Gambhir, Anil Gomber, Kamlesh Gupta, Suman

Yadav, Abhilasha Rohatgi,Santosh Prabhu(who was en-route to SA), Anup Saraiya,

Jitinder Lal Gupta (who flew in from Kullu) and self.

1/6th of a batch was no mean feat considering the fact that it was almost

impromptu... DD Mittal was away from Delhi(Kya karen). Tarvinder from Nagpur,

Rashmi Khare from Bhopal, Sujata Khattar from Shahjahanpur and Vijay Ramdasi

from Satara were there too(On teleconversation) .....

Tejinder from Chandigarh could not make it as his father has recently joined his

heavenly abode(may his soul rest in peace).....

Sewagram is a strong binding force...let us not forget it.. and we are proud to

be " One of us " ....

Dear Tacky

U guys never communicated to me about this get-together. I was very much in

Delhi almost the entire May and I really didnt know that any such meet was being

planned. When did it take place. In future if there is any such plan the MINIMUM

is that an announcement is made on the yahoogroups so that whosoever is around

can join (irrespective of the batch).

I am feeling so bad that I cant tell u. Anyway be careful in the future.I guess

whosoever wants to join the MGIMS alumni meet being held anywhere, there is

nothing to worry about the batch and such trivia . Ur only excuse is that it was

impromptu but that leaves me wondering how everyone came on the telephone in

such circumstances. Did anybody try my numbers(mobile and res no are known to

many people-Gambhir, Tandon, Jiti etc.) Anyway for future ref.

My own mobile(India)  9 810 810 312

Spouse                     98 101 30703

Res.      91 120 410 8 410

             91 120 2 714 016

Do not forget to inform me(either telephonically or thru yahoogroups)

(Gambhir has been personally inviting all the time for something which i have

able to decipher so far; and u guys  forget such imp events)

I second Dr Mittal's plea for posting any meet information on this mailing

list. Surely some of us who are around the meeting place can join in...

All nations have their weaknesses. Though very attuned to french culture I find

them too engrossed in their frenchness & quite unable to appreciate any other

cultures & point of views. US citisens are usually considered a pain in the

neckfor being over confident & aggressive etc

Dear BB

The scathing remarks on our " Attitude " as Indians is not lost on anyone of

us.....it is the degree to which we respond in retaliation which matters.

I have had occasions when I have to speak out at people to thwart their

Indian-ness. ..as you have delineated their qualities.

To highlight an issue, I have got painted in bold letters out side the Labour

Room door in my hospital the words " NO ENTRY " both in Hindi and English along

with the instruction to ring the call bell at the gate for assisstance. It goes

without saying that no one ever follows the instructions and sometimes I have

had to literally push out HEFTY female attendants (shoes and all) out of the

main door...The ladies in this part of the world are indeed hefty....

Lately, I have started asking them very politely...Kya aap Indian hain? After an

incredulous look, people answer in the affirmative and then I point to the door

sign and tell them...Tou yeh apka kasoor nahin hai..

It invariably gets an immediate response with the ante-room getting vacated and

all gentry migrating to the waiting room...

Such is our psyche..but, all is not lost....I had a lady who chided me and said

that she was proud to be an Indian...and since that day, she, whenever she

happens to be in my OPD, takes it upon herself to admonish people not to talk

loudly / switch off their mobile phones / go into the doctor's chamber only when

the number is called out / etc.

we still have a ray of hope

wishing all of u a very happy and prosperous new year.

recently i went to sevagram for our batch 25th reunion and found myself drowned

in the sea of memories attached to the place .felt sorry that most of my

batchmates couldnt make it for some reasons or the others, but it was an

experience in itself which can only be felt.Sevagram and wardha has not chganged

much but things are improving .maximum changed has occured in college with new

departments and people but i felt improvement is not balanced or one can say is

not uniform. opds are same and need immedate attention. few departments has not

changed at all. hostel was not in good shape College need all round devlopement

with all the areas rising at the same time.
