Guest guest
I invented this recipe because I'm trying to recover from a rash and thought aloe would be helpful -- and since I started drinking this lemonade (also have been living mostly on green smoothies for the duration!), my rash is greatly improved and almost gone (it's been about 24 hours since I started my aloe lemonade/green smoothie treatment). I think it was being aggravated by too many oranges/tomatoes (from my raw food diet) and too much coffee (no, the coffee's not raw...just something I'm very addicted to!). Anyway, since aloe is helpful for constipation, and since many of us have kids who also suffer from skin problems, maybe some of you will find this useful--it's based on a lemonade recipe that was originally posted somewhere online (here? I can't remember now). For one tall glass: 1/2 cup aloe vera juice (I used ordinary aloe vera juice from Walgreens for this)1 tablespoon lemon juice (I used organic lemon juice that I found in the natural foods aisle at Woodman's -- a Midwest grocery chain) 5 drops of liquid stevia extract (I used lemon stevia, again from Woodman's)water to fill the rest of the glassTried it out on my ten-year-old as well...she loves it and says it tastes just like " real " lemonade... BonnieP.S. Maybe some of you would like to try the green smoothie recipe too? I fill a blender halfway or more with greens (usually spinach, cilantro, or parsley), add a whole peeled lemon and a whole peeled banana, and two cups of filtered water, and blend. It tastes like lemonade also, actually. Sometimes I add a little chlorella -- makes the smoothie look a darker green but doesn't affect the taste much. If bananas aren't a problem, you can make a sweeter smoothie by using two or three bananas and only 1/2 a lemon (or no lemon).
