Carl,

The higher values are apparent in the TLC and can also be seen in the Trend. I added a Trend to the assessment design with all the bands on one Trend and color code them using 2 shades of each color...ex. dark blue and a lighter version of that blue for theta. This way I can see at a glance which side is higher. This came in handy the other day when a girl's high amplitude alpha dropped like a rock about 40 seconds into EC....found out she was going to sleep.

The Pendant person only uses the lithium one that came with it. It seems fully charged but dies out by the end of an assessment or sooner.

We were going to switch the wires again using the other electrodes to double double check....but the battery died again ;-)

Thanks,

Rosemary

Re: Pendant and Actives Questions

Hi Rosemary, has she tried using a normal non-rechargeable Energizer or Duracell battery with the Pendant, or did you mean every battery lasts only 1/2 hour? Where do you see the higher values, on the TLC? You've eliminated the electrodes, leads and Active box, and still see higher amplitudes on the Pendant's ch1. If you're sure the data you received from the right side going to ch1 was indeed higher, I don't know how it couldn't be the Pendant. But, I'm just a humble beginner... -Carl

I am writing this for someone using Pendant and Active electrodes. How long should a Pendant charged battery last? Hers run out of charge in 1/2 hour. How long does it need to be charged and should it hold the charge for a few days without recharging? Hers doesn't. It is all relatively new equipment.

She has done 5 TLC assessments. All of them show higher values on the left side than on the right. BUT the 2-38 Totals come out higher on the right than the left. We tried testing it today...ran it as set up with left side in ch1 and right side in ch2. Then switched the ends (reference and signal) at the Active's box so right was in ch1 and left in ch2. Ch 1 still higher than ch 2. Then we took out the Actives and put in the electrodes that came with the Pendant...ch1 still higher than ch 2. Could it be the Pendant?

Help!

Rosemary

The Pendant does NOT come with a Lithium Ion battery. The site I gave yesterday is the only one in the world, to the best of my ability to search for them, that has this type of battery. The batteries themselves are white. Lithium Ion is the long-life battery used in the little round batteries used in watches and cameras, etc. What comes with the Pendant is a standard Nickel Metal Hydride battery. The primary benefit of the NMH battery is that it doesn't have a " memory " , so it doesn't require you to completely discharge and then fully recharge it every so often in order not to minimize its capability.

If you want longer life, the Lithium Ion is the way to go. You can also, as suggested, purchase some new NMH rechargeable 9-volt batteries at Radio Shack for less. Also, don't count on the little charger-ette that comes with the Pendant. That is very dependent on the power from the USB port in your computer. Pick up a re-charger (most 9-volt varieties will do NiCad and NMH, so make sure the setting is for NMH when recharging), and see if that helps.

If it came from Minder Labs, it's not a Lithium Ion battery. If she does have a black Lithium Ion battery (which means she has a special charger for it), I'd like to know where she got it. Always looking for new suppliers. To date this one I mentioned is the only one I've ever found in 9-volt rechargeable.

Pete

Cheryl referred to it as a lithium battery. It is black. We'll check it out next week and get back to you if any new information.

Thanks

Rosemary~

I have found the batteries that come with the Pendant not to be that long lasting.

The battery Pete is talking about is a mega-strength Lithium battery, not the same as the one that comes with the Pendant.

I find charging the black one so often is a hassle and since I also use 9V batteries for the activEeg electrodes, I buy six packs of 9Vs at the wholesale club and just replace them when ever they get low. Its just easier than worrying about whether my battery is low and charging often.

Do batteries cause global warming? Oh my! I dont want to be harming the earth anymore than I have to maybe I should purchase the Lithium betteries too.

Lead and acid? What could be damaging about that? Look on the packaging (or on the batteries themselves), and there is usually a warning about how to dispose of them to avoid causing injury or environmental problems.
