hello to all!

i acknowledge and thank you everyone in the list for helping a

teacher/therapist like me who needs more skills with dealing with

children with autism.

recently, one of my students( who was a former student of mine)

manifests extreme task avoidance behavior. I have'nt seen him like

this before i endorsed him to another therapist, but now... im so

sad seeing him avoiding the learning moments.

He does bad behaviors, ie, when starting a drawing imitation

activity. before we start or give him an instruction he started

writing on the wall, makes sounds and waves/shakes his other arm. I

extinct the behavior at first because i saw him looking at me as if

he wants me to give him a negative attention(i feel it'll be

reinforcing for him to give reprimands). i give prompts as necessary

and i also tried flooding and over-correction though it did work

only for a few meetings.

he is an attention seeker, really! he does good things after he

provoke a bad incedent, for you to praise him. but i do not. i give

positive social nreinforcements when he shows spontaneous positive

responds/actions.

i need some help from anyone. i feel like he is slowing down because

his behaviors hinders his learning. he has good interest and

enthusiasm to learn before.

thanks in advance.

sincerely,

kathryn
