Textbook/Program to teach reading and language skills for high functioning autistic child

Does anyone know of a good textbook and/or program to homeschool a high

functioning autistic child to read and to acquire language skills (grammar,

sentence structure, etc.)? My child has about a 1st grade reading level now

but we feel she needs a structured program to continue to make good

progress. Hopefuly I can find a book/program with workbooks and lesson

plans, etc.

I used this program in a private school for several years. (Kids varied from

" gifted " to kids with learning issues of one kind or another to kids with high

functioning autism to typical children.) Each child had a " personal plan " that

was individualized for them each week... that way they could all work at their

own pace. Elementary Language Skills is a very good " initial " program to start

your child on. However, as it advances, I did find that the children needed

additional practice with skills before they " moved on " to the next lessons.
