Guest guest
I think for the sake of this group you should agree to disagree and support whom ever you'd like to support. It's a sensitive topic, we are all entitled to our opinions. I think everyone appreciates the work of autismlink and others like it. I am interested in any and all opinions and research for autism. This topic has divided our nation and community, it does not need to divide a group created for a mercury link to autism. My husband and I recently went out to dinner with another couple from a local support group. Afterwards, my husband said he didn't think he wanted to get together with them anymore, he likes them a lot, but he couldn't relate to people who just weren't interested in the biomedical approach to autism, who weren't interested in educating themselves about alternative treatments, restrictive diets, etc. I told him to remember that drs advise against it, say it's a waste of money, time is better spent on " proven " therapies, etc. They regularly take their child to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for tests with doctors I've never even heard of, neuro-muscular, muscular/skeletal, etc. of course every doctor finds something, because these kids are falling a part at the seems. I just realized that we can all take a different route, but we are all trying to get to the same place. I offer the knowledge I've acquired to those who want it (newbies) and those who don't know they can if they change their minds. He did finally agree to not judge. We are all doing the best we can. Have a drink and enjoy the weekend :0) PS , I would love for you to interview Dan Burton. And yes, unfortunately it would contribute to this discussion and ones like it. [ ] Re: AutismLink Radio -- Dr. Andy Shih of NAAR He's right. Mercury doesn't CAUSE autism. But it's definitely one of the factors that cause autism. Mercury, in and of itself, does not cause autism. But perhaps these children are predisposed somehow immunologically, and the mercury did more damage to our kids than other kids. If mercury CAUSED autism, everyone who had a shot with mercury in it would be autistic. That's not the case. Some kids, IMHO, are predisposed genetically and immunologically and that, combined with mercury, made for a deadly mix. That's just my .02, I'm not a physician. But logically, the statement, " Mercury does not cause autism " is true. > I caught the last half of the Montel show. I actually thought that Dr. Shih > was absolutely adamant, and repeated several times, that studies don't back > VACCINES causing autism. Lyn Redwood looked exasperated, again stating that it > was the mercury/thimerosol factor, not the vaccine per se, and that she was > for safe vaccines. Dr. Shih just resolutely ignored this distinction, repeating > almost robotically, that there were no studies showing VACCINES caused > autism. > > Montel asked Dr. Shih, given the choice between a thimerosol-free > vaccinination, and one with thimerosol, in light of the explosion of autism and emerging > evidence of toxic harm, would he still feel comfortable with recommending > shots with thimerosol to parents. He said he would. > > It was like arguing with the Flat Earth Society, who insist those satellite > pictures mean nothing. > > > > > >
