Guest guest
> 1. We haven't purchased a copier yet. Since so much is scanned and faxed within the server and the rest of the system, how important is having a good copy machine? We know that we will need to photocopy some but can a low-end copier handle the daily needs in a solo doc office that already has Alteer? > I use my landlords copier since I sublease. I find copying essential for many tasks. Making copies of EOBs to file secondaries, etc. One non obvious duty is to precopy insurance cards PRIOR to entry into Alteer. My scanner will not feed rigid cards. Also the print on many insurance cards is tiny. I use the sophistocated copier to make a copy of BOTH sides of the cards one one sheet, enlarging them in the process and correcting the density of the image at the copier since Alteer's scanner support does not allow that conveniently. Then I scan the enlarged images one a single page into Alteer. So -- my reccomendation -- get a copier with enlarge and reduce and a means to copy duplex (two sided) to single. > 2. Are any of you using Dragon ... along with Alteer? Yes, I use dragon. My templates are in Word and I correct them in WORD using DRAGON. I find the Alteer templates awkward and slow to use. When the Note is Done I simply copy and paste it into the encounter. Very fast. Dragon likes WORD much more than ALTEER. > 3. Regarding publicity/ad campaigns for opening an office... On checklists we keep seeing " announcements " listed. I send " announcements " as postcards to potential patients who live close to my office (see my previous on direct mail). I also made some 1/3 sheet flyers which get lots of use. They sit in plastic display dispensers at the front dest. I gave them to specialty offices so that they have something to give to people who ask for referrals to a primary care physician, and I am continually finding new uses for them. If anybody is interested, I could download samples of my marketing pieces. Even if it serves as " what not to do " it could save time. Guest guest
Jim Those are very useful answers. Thank you so much. We would love to see your marketing pieces if you really have time to download those. Rian Allegan MI Re: copier, Dragon software, announcements > 1. We haven't purchased a copier yet. Guest guest
Here are some checklists. Obviously, you won't need everything on it. I did not make them, but found it somewhat helpful. As for the copier, we got a Canon from Office Depot that has been great so far. We don't yet use Dragon, but we are interested so keep us informed.Mintek Family wrote: To Abbey and those of you already using Alteer in your offices:Due to remodeling delays we have not opened yet but we now have a FIRMopening date (July 23) and I have just a few questions.1. Are any of you using Dragon, or other voice recognition software, alongwith Alteer? Do you cut and paste into the EMR in the same manner thatDennis recently explained about using Word? How well is that integrationworking? I haven't purchased that kind of software yet but I'm consideringit. I used it routinely in my last office location. Any advice?3. Regarding publicity/ad campaigns for opening an office: we are designinga brochure that is almost done and we have business cards, ads and articlesin the paper and letters going out to past patients. On checklists we keepseeing "announcements" listed. Have any of you printed up separateannouncements (one page flyers?) about opening your practices and if so,where have you distributed those? Does this seem a worthwhile effort interms of cost and energy?Thank you, Abbey. The checklist (for beginning a practice) that you faxed along time ago has been very helpful, as was a checklist that is provided tomembers of the Michigan State Medical Society.Rian Mintek, MDAllegan MIPS We are going to be using Alteer software and Group One will do ourbilling initially.
