Guest guest
I do have some tips that I picked up today when my sister-in-law had an appointment with her neurologist. 1. The doctor said that LBD patients were much calmer and in general did better when they had a firm routine--doing the same thing at the same time every day--meals, bath, exercise, whatever. 2. The doctor also recommended simple games like checkers or dominoes, or perhaps Monopoly or Parchesi where they had to throw dice and count. She said that these helped increase concentration spans and focus, and seemed to delay the worsening of mental confusion. Ann
Guest guest
Ann, That is very interesting. I suppose keeping the brain cells active helps to fight of the Lewy Bodies. I noticed that last week when she has several dr's appointments she did not sleep well the night before. She was worried about missing the appointment and would get up and ask what time it was and if it was time for her to get up. I think that next time I will just tell her the morning of the appointment instead of the night before. Maybe that way she will rest better that night. Thank you for the tips! My grandma is doing pretty good here lately. One thing that seems to have worsened a bit is the likely hood of tipping a cup over, a bowl etc. She has spilled quite a bit of things on her the last week or so. I told my grandpa that we were going to have to make sure that she eats at the table. I know that will be an adjustment for her but I think that it will be better in the long run. She went to Wal Mart w/ me yesterday. I wheeled her around to look at things. She seemed to have a good time. She got pretty tired on me. Well, I will leave now. Hope everyone is doing well.
