Guest guest
My twin daughters (now 6) were on Miralax for 5+ years before I joined this group. My 3-year old was on it over a year. Although they didn't seem to have any of the terrible side-effects many of the members have experienced, I absolutely knew they needed to get off of it (despite the assurances of four pediatricians). I was able to wean one easily and now she is completely drug free! The other twin is on Natural Calm (magnesium)...approx 1 1/4 tsp per day. (She only weighs 31 lbs.) The 3-year old is taking 1 tsp of MoM and doing fine. They are all taking probiotics and fish oil (when I can get them in). Question...my 6-year old on Natural Calm is only having BMs every 4-5 days. They are usually quite soft, but a VERY large amount of stool each time. If I increase the dosage, they just get runnier, and if I decrease it they get hard and more delayed. Has this been anyone else's experience? It seems like she should go more often, but seems okay in terms of attitude, etc. I am going to try out a chiropractor for the first time tomorrow, although I may steer away from adjustments since this child has a benign tumor resting next to her brainstem. For any of you contemplating dropping the Miralax, I say just do it. I thought about it for a year before I finally took them off cold turkey. Very hard to do, when you know it works so well and haven't had luck with anything else. I started with a high daily dosage of Natural Calm. Then, through trial and error, I was able to scale it back. It is sold on iherb.com at an excellent price. I highly recommend the raspberry-lemon flavor. Mix it with a small amount of very-hot water, then add some juice. ~Julee No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG. Guest guest
Julee, We use Natural Calm as well. My daughter is 13 and I give her 3 tsp. three times a week + aloe juice mixed in. We are experiencing the same issue. Going about every 4 days and a very, soft massive amount. She has problems with behaviors going every 4 days and needs to go every 2 days. ( she has autism, hypotonia...motility issues). I think it's a good product but don't want to give it daily. Am going to try the Plum Smart Juice and maybe sorbitol. We're trying Bethancol right now for motility, with no success. Gosh, I've been at this with her for over 9 years. It's getting very old !!! Guest guest
You guys have convinced me to try the Natural Calm. Just ordered some. It can't be any worse than some of the supp's he takes...but it does sound good. If it tastes alright and makes him go, he's good on it.
