Guest guest
Sol, while I am a strong advocate of the use of DMSO and have used it for multiple purposes for years, including minute amounts of it in honey for eyes, I also have developed a lot of confidence in the use of ones own urine to bathe the eyes. The recommendation is mid-stream urine, best taken in the morning. I just had there nerve to try this " remedy " last year, although I have known about it since about 1990. Stupidly and carelessly, I got hair dye into my right eye..the irritation was almost unbearable. I ran, did not walk, for medical aid, where examination showed the inner side of the eyeball to be " scored " and very dry. The prescribed eye drops did not help, so in desperation I overcame my revulsion over the use of urine and tried it. Lo and behold, it worked and worked quickly...Now I take care to at least occasionally bathe my eyeballs in urine, especially if I have done a lot of computer work, or other eye strain. Just for your consideration (and you always have it with you) Taffy _____ From: DimethylSulfoxide-DMSO [mailto:DimethylSulfoxide-DMSO ] On Behalf Of cat_thump Sent: January-21-10 8:14 AM To: DimethylSulfoxide-DMSO Subject: posterior vitreous detachment question I suffered a sudden acute posterior vitreous detachment yesterday, and now have a very large and very obtrusive floater. Guest guest
Had one of those over 10 years ago and still have a vitreous floater. And that is my good eye now because 3 yrs ago I had a macular hole followed to two partial detachments. Anyway, I too have wondered if any good can come from using DMSO. I have a cataract developing in my good eye now. Was using MSM drops maybe 10 times daily when bad eye began to have noticeable cataract that the eye surgeon said would come afterwards. The MSM never helped me. Gerry posterior vitreous detachment question I suffered a sudden acute posterior vitreous detachment yesterday, and now have a very large and very obtrusive floater. Guest guest
In this particular case I am hoping to dissolve or break up the floater. I doubt urine could do that, but think DMSO just might. There really isn't any irritation or pain. But thanks for the info anyway. sol > > Sol, while I am a strong advocate of the use of DMSO and have used it for > multiple purposes for years, including minute amounts of it in honey for > eyes, I also have developed a lot of confidence in the use of ones own urine > to bathe the eyes. Guest guest
Thanks. My detachment unfortunately happened in my good eye. I add the MSM to the CS/DMSO drops because it helps keep the DMSO from drying my eyes too much, not for its own sake per se. I was using the drops because I am getting cataracts too. Over time, have the floaters changed? I started wearing an eye patch today because the floater changed shape and looks like a spider hanging in front of my eye, and I am so phobic the stress of seeing it evr4y couple seconds was about to make me ill. sol > > Had one of those over 10 years ago and still have a vitreous floater. Guest guest
Hi, Sol....Or you could consider trying Swedish Bitters..I use this also, both on the lid and in the corner of the eye and along the lash. It does not sting if just applied to the lid, but really smarts for a short while if put in the eye...have been thinking of using a very minute amount of DMSO in the Swedish Bitters for application on the lid only. Guest guest
Please excuse the large text, I am having extreme trouble reading regular size text. Hi Taffy, I will save your suggestion, but can you tell me why you think the bitters would dissolve the floater? Or do you think it will heal the detachment? The doctor and the websites I have read all say a posterior vitreous detachment is permanent and will never reattach again. thanks, sol At 04:12 PM 1/21/2010, you wrote: >Hi, Sol....Or you could consider trying Swedish Bitters..I use this also, >both on the lid and in the corner of the eye and along the lash. Guest guest
Hello, Sol: Oh, Boy, you ask a lot of me..non-professional person that I am, but am willing to express my opinion and belief as the saying goes. I am writing in very large print in the hopes of making this message easier for you to read. Swedish Bitters were first formulated by monks in the Middle Ages, I believe. There have been many accounts written about the Bitters allegedly improving and/or correcting vision problems...these were not clinical studies as far as I know. What I have been told by close friends in Scandinavia is the Swedish Bitters are routinely prescribed by eye doctors for a host of vision problems, including cataracts. My reasoning is that the herbs in the Bitters have a great healing quality, allowing the body to mend. That is why I have been considering for myself to use a very minute amount of DMSO mixed in some of the Swedish Bitters and applying it to the eyelid several times a day for awhile. The comment has often been made that if the body is given the right tools, it can mend itself...the Swedish Bitters may, underline may, contain the ingredients your eyes need to heal. What is lost by trying? Further, with respect the detachment being permanent, I am not a medically trained person, but I can relate that I personally know of one instance in which a person with this condition was healed by electo-magnetic therapy...yes, healed. So, in my view, there is hope and usually more than one solution for any given problem. Guest guest
Taffy, Thanks for the detailed explanation. Where does one get Swedish Bitters, and is there a best brand? I am assuming for eyes you are referring to a product for external use? I looked around a bit with google but other that reading there are versions for internal and external use, I don't know what a good brand is. RE electro magnetic therapy do you mean something like a Sota Magnetic Pulser? thanks, sol At 08:11 PM 1/21/2010, you wrote: >Swedish Bitters were first formulated by monks in the Middle Ages, I >believe. Guest guest
Sol, go to www.swedishbitters.com <http://www.swedishbitters.com/> . Daddybob on this list deserves the credit for ferreting out this source. This is one of many selling the original formula of Treben, who wrote at book entitled " Health through God's Garden " (sometimes called Health Through God's Pharmacy) in which she extols the virtues of Swedish Bitters. In my opinion, as long as the bitters are made according to the Treben Formula, which most German made bitters are, you cannot go wrong. The Treben version is good for external and internal use. If I were to use my head, I would take some internally every day instead of just hit and miss. I have a small jar of it beside my computer to use externally on my eyes, so by having it right in front of me I remember to apply it. About the electro magnetic therapy, the device that was used which I referenced in my previous email was a PAP-IMI device. Under no circumstances am I making any recommendations to try to find this device as a therapy option. It is very powerful and I am very cautious about it...if it is to be used at all, in my view, it should only be by someone with an in-depth knowledge of the complex workings of the body. It is my belief that this device severely damaged my father, due to a lack of understanding of it's' power and impact on the human body. Conversely, I have also seen it help some persons dramatically, but the effectiveness I believe rests with the knowledge of the operator. This device I do not think can be legally imported or used in the US ...I could be wrong about this. However, this type of therapy I think can be found in other devices: perhaps someone on this list knows about this and can address this question. I am all for this therapeutic approach, but one must understand and respect the power of magnetism on the human body. Taffy _____ Sol wrote: * Taffy, Thanks for the detailed explanation. Guest guest
I got the dry mix, but forgot it in the cupboard and it has been sitting there for a year now in its little brown bag. The vodka is also sitting in there. Does anyone know the shelf life of the dry mix (in the brown bag) and also shelf life of the unopened vodka?
