Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to come to terms with uveitis. My chronic Lyme disease and

psoriatic arthritis, are two factors that can cause uveitis, from

what I've read. As a Lymie, I've been steadily recovering, but this

is a new issue that's got me a bit scared.

Years ago, I had one bout with uveitis, for which an opthamologist

gave me an antibiotic (abx) creme and assured me it wasn't a big

deal. It took a while but the scarlet sclera faded to white and the

aching pain in the eyeball went away.

A week and a half ago, I had it again, and this time, knowing that

abx could merely drive the Lyme into hiding, I didn't go that route.

I'd been managing chronic dry-eye very nicely with colloidal silver

drops, and decided, based on info from Lyme groups, to add some DMSO

to the drops. Scary to try, but it worked and within three days my

eye seemed fine again. Now, however, after a week of thinking things

are OK, it's back, on the other side of the same eye. Red and tender

on the other side, with the same slight blur I had before.

Is there anyone here familiar with Lyme/Psoriatic/Uveitis? Like most

things, the issues we get seem to be different than 'normal' issues.

For instance, I know that uveitis is generally regarded as an

inflammatory condition, but with Lyme, I'd be unable to take

steroids, as they push an already compromised immune system. Also,

with Lyme, many 'inflammations' are really infections from the many

different co-infections that Lyme sets up. Abx can drive them into

hiding where they can multiply and get much worse, so I'm looking for

someone's experiences with this who can tell me how they have managed.

I'm trying to use the computer less, read less, and rest my eye. I'm

scared. Lyme is always dropping another shoe, and this one feels like

a boot!

Thanks for any help or experience you can offer.

Be well,

Léna
