Guest guest
Oh my.. you must feel horrid. My antibodies were that high just once... this was when I couldn't get out of bed without some major help and I was crying all day every day.. Hannah Pasiszwww.starbrightdesigns.netwww.cafepress.com/starbrighthttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/UnderExposed/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WomenArtistsWork/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LadiesCraftHour/ Helloooo there!! So sorry it's been so long, but I've been *BIG* timebusy and stressed... don't even wanna talk about it. Sometimes it'snice to be able to come here and just focus on nothing but my health.Anyway, I hope everything is good here in Hashi-talk land. I missedyou all!!!!I saw my endo. today and got a copy of my test results. Tests are allin the normal range, including the progesterone... the antibodies arejust sky high.Free T4 1.6 (ref 0.8-2.7)Free T3 3.1 (ref 2.3-4.2)TSH 0.88 (ref 0.4-5.5)Thyroglobulin antibodies 2206 (ref <41)TPO 1453 (ref <35)Progesterone 2.1 (ref. <1.4 during Follicular Phase)Estradiol 34 (ref. <165 during Follicular Phase)The good news is I managed to score a pretty good money deal for allthese tests with Unilab. My endo. is really nice, though she's basically sticking to thetests... she didn't oppose raising my T3 a bit to see if that helpsthe heart palps and weight gain, so she doubled my dose from 5 mcg to10 mcg a day (but she is lowering my T4 from 88 to 75). I asked her ifit would hurt to try a Progesterone cream anyway and she said no andrecommended Progestin. Has anyone here used it? She's also having me track down my Holter monitor report from my olddoc back when my heart was really crazy and see a cardiologist, thoughshe doesn't think there is much cause for concern, she thinks it willhelp me feel better. I suppose it would.I mentioned my low temperature -- and that I still sometimes have tosoak my feet in hot water at night just to fall asleep. She said shedoesn't use temperature to guide her in thyroid assessment, and thatmany women have cold extremities and that is from an oversensitivityto adrenaline. ??? Has anyone else heard this before? She does seem to want to help me feel better.Take care, All -
Guest guest
The tests look like increasing both the T4 and T3 a little bit. Progestin is not progesterone. A progesterone cream is going to be of the natural variety. I think she's partially right about the cold extremities, except that we're talking about low cortisol, instead of high cortisol. You may not be able to produce enough when you need to anymore. When the adrenals get tuckered out from yrs of ongoing stress, they can't produce enough of the stuff anymore, hence, some of the same symptoms as hypothyroidism. As a matter of fact, sometimes it's difficult to go up on the thyroid hormone, if the adrenals are deeply involved, since they're intimately associated with each other. Those antibodies are certainly high, and from the looks of it, they're attacking at some point " above " the thyroid also, like maybe the hypothalamus? Did you have blood tests for the female hormones? I'm of the opinion that it is the saliva tests that more accurately reflect the state of what's going on there.
