Guest guest
Well, I just got back. I should have all the results except for the virus count on Monday or Tuesday. The research coordinator said it's been taking a week to get virus counts back. I did ask about studies. Schering is currently recruiting for one for relapsers to study the efficacy of low dosages of peg-intron in halting the progress of fibrosis. Participants in this study are started with the standard treatment of peg-intron and ribavirin. Those who test negative for the virus at 12 weeks continue the treatment thru week 48. Those who test positive for the virus at 12 weeks continue the treatment thru week 18. At the end of the treatment phase participants are randomized into two groups, one that receives the low dose peg-intron and a control group that receives nothing. This phase lasts for three years. At the end of the three years the group that didn't receive peg-intron gets it free of charge for three years. Jan, the research coordinator, trying to strike a positive note, said I didn't qualify. She meant that my virus test will be negative. Still, I can't believe I'm even thinking about it. Ugh! Doug
