Your best bet is to print out some of the info posts on this group and

elsewhere on the internet, and let folks read them. There IS a lot of

ignorance about hcv, and that's a real tragedy. I think most of us here

have had to deal with some of the things. It's NOT like a cold, where a

sneeze can infect a whole room--yet we do need to take precautions, such as

mopping up blood from cuts, etc,. with clorox, etc. One of our members

mentioned a boss wanting to fire him/her for fear he/she would infect the

whole office--that's just plain silly. Just don't let them get away with

being ignorant: educate them.

And WHY are so many people so ignorant about this virus? (Including me at

first--I hadn't a clue what hepatitis c was) Something is very wrong when

the organizations that should be educating (and WARNING) the population

aren't doing the job. My doctors have all told me that if they had their

way, they'd test everyone over 50 years old for hcv, because so much of

this actually IS passed through blood transfusions--and those over 50 were

more likely to have had blood transfusions before they started testing the

blood supplies for hcv.

So--my doctors know this. Why doesn't the world?
