Hi

Im having a problem with post transplant billing ...So centers

use the cost report for Pre-transplant and Post -transplant.

I need to know if this is correct or is there another way of

handling post transplant.

Post transplant facility fees go on the cost report (as long as they are

transplant related).

Professional fees are billed directly to Medicare.

HI All,

Pre transplant evaluation service for ESRD patients and their live donors

are the financial responsibility, with one minor exception, of the

transplant center and are posted to the Medicare Cost Report.

Post transplant care of the recipient is the financial responsibility of the

patient and or the payer for the patient.

Post donation care of the Live Donor for donation related complications for

facility services is the financial responsibility of the transplant center

and is posted to the Medicare Cost Report (physician fees for donor

complications are billed to the recipient's primary payer).
