Guest guest
Hi Kim, Yes, I am piqued too! Practicing TM, it seems as though the frequency is lower than Zen. More like a thalpha band. I have experienced a feeling of deep relaxation and then something like the floor drop away. I remember that feeling years ago, doing alpha meditation with NFB. With out theta suppression it could be so different that it can make one anxious. Also, I wonder if depression prone people who do TM are more prone to anxiety because of the theta. I have heard about the experience of anxiousness or anger after TM more than once. Zen feels more like a higher frequency for me as well. Low beta- beta- gamma. Though a huge generalization. Gillis Re: Re: No Alpha Hi , You have piqued by curiosity. Did your group happen to follow anyone who was doing zen meditation? When you do this type of meditation, your eyes are half open and you can see partially. The feeling is different for me and I have often wondered if perhaps I am in a slightly higher brain wave state than alpha, for example, lobeta. Any thoughts? I had trouble with anxiety attacks during TM (if you can believe it) because my eyes were closed (or maybe it was too much caffeine?), but I feel better doing zazen. When I did my meditation research at Lexicor, we found that any form of spiritual contemplation, contemplative prayer, binaural sound (14 Hz) and meditation increased Alpha production and these incrfeases were sustainable after training. We also verified a decrease in GSR, EMG, HRV, BP and pulse and an increase in foot and hand temperature. As an aside, we also found meditators using either Siddha or Kriya Yoga meditation techniques obtained statistically insignificant better results than our TM meditators achieved. Our conclusion was that any form of progressive relaxation combined with a technique for quieting the mind or intentionally keeping the mind occupied worked just as well as any other technique. Simple tapes of progressive relaxation were almost as effective as meditation. http://ModernEssenes.com/breath/index.html Again, as an aside, we also discovered that adding binaural sound of 7.8 Hz caused our meditators to deepen their meditation and increase both physical and mental relaxation as measured with our equipment. Guest guest
. I would have expected HRV to increase. Isn't increased HRV associated with better balance between PSN and SNS.?
