Aloe vera whole leaf GEL is what is used for constipation. I found one brand,

Natural High

Aloe Vera Gel, that actually was pretty good tasting (make sure it is cold). But

the store where

I bought it stopped carrying it and now all they have is that distilled kind

that has NO taste,

but also no leaf fiber, etc. It isn't the kind to take to help with bowel

movements. I don't

think a pill would be helpful for this purpose, either. Generally, if you want

the benefits of a

plant or food, you need to just take the real thing. It is available online from

various sources.

Be aware that this isn't the same gel that is used for sunburn, etc. Look for an

aloe gel that is

specifically made to drink. I was drinking about maybe 4-6 ounces each evening.

Hi Marg! I am trying to get my emails cleaned up and the aloe vera

post stood out to me. I have email mess, been out of town!! Anyways,

's aloe although nice(no taste, smell etc.) we found to not

work very well, it is to processed. It did seem to give my son some

reflux relief, but not much for constipation. The more whole the aloe

is the better it seems to work. Maybe upping the george's may help.

Our son was prescribed 2 ounces a day to start at only 5yrs, so Im

sure an adult can go much higher. We did some searching around and

found the brand " Fruit of the earth " to work in comparing taste,

smell, cost etc. Im sure there are other brands that work also, but

living far from cities we dont get to compare shop much. To get my

son's stools moving I now give him up to 3 oz(he is only 8 and about

45 lbs or so pounds). I dont struggle with constipation, but take up

to 4-6 oz sometimes(to help with pain fatigue) and I have good

movements the next day. So if you dont see relief from the 2 ounces,

I would recommend upping the dose to about 4-6 ounces. And if

possible, get a different form of aloe. It seems the greener/more

colored the better it works, but the taste well be stronger. I find

the " fruit of the earth " brand pleasant enough to drink straight.

Pill form would be useless I believe(to processed) may help some with

arthritis/pain, but I think just to broken down and would take a lot

of pills to do anything. Jennie<><
