Guest guest
I just received this email and thought I would pass it along to others. I called and you can also register at www.donotcall.gov Marcye Hi all, This is an FYI------ The National Directory of Cell Phone Numbers is about to be published. Once this happens telemarketers will have access to your Cell Phone Number. Because many of us rely on our cell phones for business use, this will be extremely disruptive. These calls will also use our " cell minutes " . In a few weeks, cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive these calls. Call the number below from your cell phone, it is the National Do-Not-Call list and it will block your number for 5 years. Guest guest
I bet it is a hype also. If this were real, there would be national news a bout this, and it probably would also be on the MSN etc. news pages. You might want to check out this website, and also contact your better business bureau. Once you call them, they can save your tel number. You actually gave them exactly what you didn't want to have happen. There are many scams on the web and through email. Just my opinion. Guest guest
Marcia, It could be hype about the Cell phones going this way but as far as the number and website they are on the up and up. I found out about it around a year ago through the Fort Worth Star Telegram newspaper. I called or logged on (cant remember now) and put my home phone on the list. My telemarketer calls have been cut down to maybe a couple a month since then. These are usually ones from the credit cards or business that I do business with and so they have permisson to call me. My mother on the other hand gets about 2 to 3 a DAY on two different phone lines. On another group that I posted this to another member had also found out about this site a year or so ago and has had the same results that I have had. Someone else recommended looking on snopes.com (not sure of the spelling there) and I did and all I could find that was in question was a deadline for when this could happen but nothing saying that the possiblity was not valid. Just my thoughts and experience on the matter. Marcye M Monghate wrote: I bet it is a hype also. Guest guest
THanks for the update Marcye. I will go back and look at your information. I tend to be very naive and have fallen for a lot of other email scams, so I tend to " throw the baby out with the bath water " so to speak. I think that the fact that you are receving fewer calls is probably a testimony to the potential truth of what you reported. I am still afraid of being burned , but I guess it could go either direction.
