Guest guest
Hello, I am new to this group. I joined to see if anyone has had an issue I am currently experienceing-Sudden onset High Blood pressure. Here is my story: I have had asthma most of my life. (I am 40). It has been mild...although since about 25 or so I have been on medication to control/maintain it....unconttollled I get the asthma cough and it will turn into pneumonia if left untreated for a few weeks (found that out when a new doc refused(actually the office staff refused to schedule me) to see me for 6 weeks (Our first " new patient appt " )and I had " the cough " ...6 weeks later I had pnemonia) So far, I have never had a severe acute attack (knocking on wood here). Anyway, I was on ADvair 500/50, Singulair daily, and max air as needed. I was doing fine on these meds. My doctor left the area and I went in to see the new doctor for a checkup and get to know you appt. She changed my asthma meds to Flovent and Sigulair, daily, Proventil as needed. Now, about 2 weeks ago I forgot to refill Singulair...never a problem in the past...but on the new inhaler I had cough and congestions 24 hours later. It took a week of both inhalers 2x a day to fix....last time I used proventil was about aweek ago. All problems contained. So 6 weeks since asthma meds change, 1 week from using proventil 2x a day...2 days ago during a routine exam my blood pressure was very high! Now, for 5 months I have undergone fertility treatments and had BP taken each month as part of exam...normal-last treatment August. In sept at the check up with primary doc...normal. 6 weeks later very very high. So here is my question: Has anyone experienced high blood pressure from an asthma medication change or as the result of a medication? My doc says no connections...but I have no history of HBP and no family history. Doc seems to be dismissing my questions and put me on BP meds....see you in 4 weeks...I am searching for answers to WHY 6 weeks from last normal BP reading (40 years worth of normal) to 178/116 BP. Thank you for your help
