When I have trouble sucking it in, it is usually cuz my heartrate has gone

too high (breathing too hard) or I drank too much water (bloated).

Bloat may also be related to your hormonal cycle.

BTW I still feel all of the ab work during the work-out even after doing it

over a year

Actually, I love the feeling, knowing I am working what I want to be working

so maybe you are just working it harder now

I just used my push-up bars for triceps dips for the first time this morning

cuz I read this suggestion yesterday & boy, do I feel them!!! Regular triceps

dips from a chair (or table or bench) always felt awkward to me with my

carpal tunnel syndrome/weak wrists

In both scenarios, you place your arms behind you and lift and lower your

bodyweight using mostly your triceps

YES! It means those stomach muscles are getting a workout! :-)

I also find I'm doing it subconciously when I workout now, so when I think

about it there's not as much 'sucking in' to do *lol*

I'm beginning to feel that only when you learn to control certain muscles

then you know what to concentrate on and work really hard at it, I've had

some sore abs recently esp with the standing work.

OK so now I desperately need to control and isolate my triceps - they seem

to escape me *lol*

I think so. The soreness means your abdominal muscles are tired

which

means you have been working them hard. Good for you! You should

start seeing improvement in your balance from those muscles (and

maybe

by looking in the mirror?). Keep it up!

Janet,

I think as we continue to gain strength and balance, we start to

focus more on the muscles that we are actually using. At first, we

are just trying to get through a move without falling over....once we

have mastered the move....then we can start really focusing in on the

particular muscle we are trying to use! Today, maybe you were really

concentrating and focusing on the ab muscles and that's why it felt

more difficult! I think it's definitely a good thing because it

means you are really focusing in on that muscle!

Thanks Barb

I'm going to see if I can get pair of them over here, even though my writs

is stronger we did a glute routine on all fours last week with push-ups and

my wrist started to complain, so I think they'd be great to take with me to

classes too

,

How true,

At first all I could do was stay upright and not pass out from breathing

too hard! I think I spent 50% of the time walking it out. Now I try to

work each exercise to the max. I did not feel my ab muscles when I first

started..I think they were in hiding...but now I feel them in almost all

the exercises.

Take care,

Kathy
