I just had that crud, and I'd be willing to bet it's the SAME stuff. I ran a slight temp one time, and then it stayed at around 98.8 for the 10 or so days that I had it. The CDC says that the type that seems so prevalent right now is not part of the vaccination, but that one that is related to it IS in the vaccine (duhh). They were banking on it giving some immunity to this one. Our nursing home is full up with it, even though almost every single patient had the flu shot back in late October, including most of us employees, including me! I still got this form of it, and it started out by me wanting to sleep constantly, before I ever knew that I had it. Then I progressed to that break-bone feeling in my neck, back, and limbs, plus a big fat constant headache. Then came the nasal and chest thing. I frankly think that it went into pneumonia, but I did steam with cumin in it 3 or 4 times a day, while I was at home, and drank chamomile and ginger tea, with lemon in it. Chicken broth also, and left out the solid food for a few days. This is one time when the Guaifnesin syrup and decongestant came out of the closet because my ears got involved, particularly on one side. I would have been ok, but my stomach got a little involved, and when that happens, I'm down for the count. It's finally mostly clearing up, but I'm still coughing up the fluid. I know that the Guaifnesin can block thyroid hormone, but it was the less of two evils, on a temporary basis. Sleeping a lot really helped on this one. That's the only way that your body can do faster repairs.

it's pretty bad, deb. think i have bronchitis, but wondering about walking pneumonia at this point. i don't have a "fever" in anyone else's eyes because my body temp is 98.4. but when you consider my body temp is usually 96 or 97...

i'm in a lot of pain from coughing so much...could be the asthma stuff is making things worse.

good news is i don't have chills and stuff. my body aches, but you know i've gotten used to be run down and achy. so maybe it's not as bad as i think.

i have two doctor appts. tomorrow...one to check out this hacking cough and stuff...and then my endo appt.

sorry your flu shot hurt. glad you got it though. wish i could. you're much better off to wait until this time of year to get it...all the girls at the doctors office waited as long as they could. some even took 2 flu shots. they're crazy.

hard to rest...can't sleep good from coughing and sneezing so much. can't breathe. but yeah, i love chicken soup when i'm sick. i usually make homemade (under normal circumstances)...now Lipton will do.

take care cutie! Hugs, Sheila
