Guest guest
It seems to me that the ferritin is still too low, indicating a vitamin B-12 deficiency or anemia. We who have Hashimotos, are still prone to have these probs even though we may fall into "normal " category. , help me out with this, please, I think you are well versed in this area. Hugs ThyroFeisty(Feisty) Armour not working Hi! Hope you can help me. I've been on different doses of Armour and always have hypo symptoms even when labs show hyper. Tried adding cytomel to Armour and had hyper symptoms. My latest labs on 2 grains of Armour are:TSH 0.01ft3 428 (230-420)ft4 1.5 (0.8-1.8)ferritin 37 (10-232)I feel awful. Felt awful on 90 mg. Felt awful on 180 mg. I have read that some people feel better adding t4 along with their Armour. I thought maybe I could reduce my 90 mg of Armour and add in 25 of a synthetic t4. How do you think that would work for me? Could you also tell me what t4 med would be better for me since I have lactose, wheat, and gluten intolerance. I heard synthroid has lactose in it so that would be out for me. I guess I should mention I have been the cytomel only route too with no luck. Doc just put me on protocol and that's not working either. HELP!!! and THANKS!!!DeePS. Changing docs again. My current one won't take any labs which scares me with osteoporosis. Guest guest
I know that we've spoken a lot about the TSH lab values not being important, but that doesn't mean that ALL labs aren't important. I find a doctor dangerous who will not run antibodies testing. I think her ferriting IS probably too low and B12 problem, like you said, but those antibodies can wreak havoc wherever they're attacking, and they can attack at many different places, all the way from the hypothalamus, to the pituitary, to the receptors on the thyroid, to inside the thyroid. This is what makes Hashimoto's such a puzzler, and makes the lab values SO worthless. In my case, the T3 was just inside the "normal" range, with the T4 slightly below normal, yet my TSH showed extreme stimulation of the thyroid. It just doesn't fit, when it comes to these antibodies. Guest guest
ly, I have felt a LITTLE better since adding back 50 mcgs of the T4 (Levoxyl) to 45 mgs of Armour. I WILL not go completely without the Armour because of the other things in it (the little bit of T3, T1, T2, and calcitonin), but the Armour simply doesn't pump up my T4 enough to stop that constant stimulation. The adrenal glands could still be the key here. If you are in adrenal exhaustion, the higher you bring up the Armour, the worse you may feel. You need to see if there is an issue there also.
