Guest guest
Dear Moonsilver, You did not mention if you are taking thyroid medication, and if so... which one, and what is the dosage? Also, are the lab results you've posted *before* treatment (with a thyroid med), or *after* treatment??? Without this information, it's difficult discuss suggestions that may help improve the quality of your life. Kindest Regards, Genie moonsilvergray wrote: I know so many of us feel that way. I'm just having an especially bad time lately. After years of beating my head against the wall with several doctors, finally someone did the antibody test. Yeah, so I'm not just a complainer. But all of my other levels are normal. I don't feel good. I haven't felt good in a long time. Maybe I don't even know what normal is. There is no reason I should have to wear a long underwear shirt in Texas in the summer. What is it about the way someone looks that points to thryoid issues? I've had doctors take one look at me and immediately tell me I have thyroid problems and "lets get your levels so we can get you on medication and you'll feel better". I feel like telling them to not waste my time or theirs. I'm going to a DO now who is a jerk personality-wise, but at least he did the antibody test. He wants to do a bunch of amino acid testing and who knows what else that my insurance won't cover, which I'm going to do. He has me taking a gazillion supplements. I'm also allergic to gluten and finally got serious about that. I ran out of supplements and ended up not taking them for a couple of months. Didn't really notice a difference so I think any improvement is due to getting the gluten out of my body. I know there is no magic solution and compliance is always the hardest thing. Especially with something like this where there is no easy answer. I feel like I'm just waiting around until my thryoid gets destroyed enough. (Is there something I can do to make this happen faster?) I'm tired of going to doctors, I'm tired of spending gobs of money and not feeling better, I'm just so tired. My husband and I want to start a family. I'm in my early 30's. My DO said because of the increase chance of miscarriage, he strongly recommended that we not start trying until I get this under control. A male endro. actually had the nerve to tell me that I should go ahead and try if we want because, "women miscarry all the time". Of course my husband is healthy, energetic, and has a strong libido. Talk about opposite. He tries to understand, but it's frustrating for him too. I seem to be on this roller coaster of trying to get better, getting frustrated, getting angry, giving up, trying to get better... Whew, sorry for the big stream of consciousness. It probably doesn't help that I've been very sick for the last several days with some flu/virus thing. Here's my values if anyone is interested. They aren't even in the subclinical range. Lab normal range in (). TSH: 1.069 (.350-5.5) Triiodonthyronine, Free, Serum: 3.3 (2.3-4.2) T4, Free (Direct): 1.04 (.61-1.76) Reverse T3: 278 (90-350) Thryoid Peroxidase: 102 (0-34) Thryoid Antithyroglobulin: 848 (0-40) Thanks for listening. moonsilver
Guest guest
No, I am not taking any thyroid medication. An endro. said not until my lab values show that I'm hypo, my DO said thyroid meds won't help and we need to find out what's causing the autoimmune response in my body, and another doctor said any thyroid meds at this point would just give my body more things to attack. So everyone seems to say no meds but for different reasons. But they all say without a doubt I have autoimmune haschi. So I feel like I'm just sitting around waiting until my lab values reflect how I feel. When I moved states, I got all of my medical records before I left. I was looking through them and it's interesting to see the same thing over and over again since 1994 (when I graduated college): fatigue, weight gain, depression (runs in my family - being treated for), decreased libido, cold intolerance. I was working with a chiropractor/nutrition guy in 1998 when I was living in a different state. He was using the Health Coach Program. Everytime I went in I had to buy all these supplements and nasty drink powders and books and videos. It just didn't feel right. Especially when he had me fast and I got really sick and when I called in, he was out playing golf. My current DO wants to do some amino acid tests and ELISA test. I'm going to do that after I get over this virus, but I hope it doesn't turn out to be the same type of thing. Everytime I go in, it seems he adds another homeopathic remedy or herb thing I have to buy from him. moonsilver > Dear Moonsilver, > > You did not mention if you are taking thyroid medication, > and if so... > which one, and what is the dosage? > > Also, are the lab results you've posted *before* treatment > (with a thyroid > med), or *after* treatment??? > > Without this information, it's difficult discuss suggestions > that may help > improve the quality of your life. > > Kindest Regards, > Genie >
