Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've always thought it strange that I hardly EVER get a cold. I'm 37 years old...and, no lie, I got my first cold when I was 33 years old. And now I only get one every other year...and it barely phases me. Even my mom admits that she can NEVER remember me being sick as a kid...I just didn't get colds like other kids. I have had bouts with strep (bacterial) all my life but seem to have an uncanny resistance to colds/flu (viruses). Anyway, I have wondered lately if maybe the effect that hashi's has on metabolism might be related somehow. I mean, does a virus NEED a good metabolism to take hold? Maybe the rate at which cells reproduce/divide or something like that? I wonder if a SLOW metabolism might make it harder for these viruses to thrive? And would that mean that people with hashi's (or any kind of hypothyrodism) are more resistant to colds? I'm just curious...wonder if anyone here has discussed this kind of thing before...or if any of you notice the same thing (a high resistance to colds). Guest guest
Honestly, I don't think your unusual resistance to viruses has anything to do with Hashi's. I have Hashi's/hypothyroid/severe adrenal fatigue and was always extremely susceptible to cold and flu viruses, catching every one that wafted by me, and taking forever to get over them. I believe this is a genetic resistance you have, because I have a 93 year old friend who has never had a cold or flu even once in her entire life. She just simply does not catch them. sol wrote: > Hi everyone, > > I've always thought it strange that I hardly EVER get a cold.
