Guest guest
Hi Everyone- I've been crazy busy so I haven't posted, but I have been reading. (and find most of the " debates " alot of fun!!). I'm the person who posted about two months ago about my friend Jeff being told " not to come back to work until after you have paperwork from your dr saying you are not contagious " . Well, I took that one for a ride!! I contacted ACLU, the Americans with Disablities IN office and made a stink. Basically, I was just concerned that his work would use it somewhere donw the line to fire him. TURNS OUT, I found out by accident, that they just needed time to scramble up a complete first aid kit, since they had NO blood borne pathogen protocol- this in a factory setting (cardboard manufacturing). No hazardous waste containment, not even medical gloves!! I told his boss that it was the stupidest thing I had ever heard- what about all the people who don't say they have a certain problem? Who could have been infected. Dumb butts. Jeff started the treatment two weeks ago, he just had his second shot Monday. The first shot was the worst so far, but it doesn't seem that he is having any sides that are not of the norm. Some days he's even chipper!! Drinking lots of water. I've seen alot of people concerned about the biopsy- Jeff didn't even feel it when it happened, and afterwards he said it just felt like he had pinched a muscle in his side. His work finally came thru, even getting him disability leave thru their insurance company (with the drs help). He is very lucky. Finally, I thought I saw something the other day in a post about a Hep C awareness day. Does anyone have the info that you can send to me privately? There has been a Hep C support group listed in the paper, and we went last nite. No organizer showed up, just me & Jeff and another lady who is in desperate need of info. I found out from the place where it was held that the organizer rarely shows up. Again, I was pissed. So now I plan to raise another stink. I can't believe that there are only two people in all northern IN who need support and info on Hep C. And if other people have been coming to these meetings, and end up just sitting there for an hour waiting for someone to show up to HELP them, that is just criminal. I keep all of you in my prayers- Paddy
Guest guest
Glad to see you posting. Yes I remember you. It is a damn shame about the support group meeting. You know you can set up a support group meeting yourself in your area. Just contact all the doctors in your area that provide care for patients with Hep C. Tell them that you are starting a support group. Get informed print some of the information you see here. For your educational pamplets. Contact the drug companies and tell them you are starting a support group. They will send you educational packets. I will get you the info for both of the current drug companies making the Hep C drugs. Then contact the newspaper and have them add your group to the current events column. Anyway that is a way.
