Guest guest
I just got a letter that Social Security is reviewing my SSI case. I have to go in and meet w/ someone at the SS office next Friday morning. They want to see all of my financial records since 2005, which of course I don't keep because someone could break in and steal that stuff. It makes me nervous, but they don't seem to be asking for medical evidence that I'm still sick or anything. Tell the truth is the best policy right? I've had to borrow money from my parents in the winter because I can't afford to pay my electric bill and eat. And I've had help (grants) for school...but the guy on SS 1-800 number told me they don't care about who pays for my school. So I should be ok...I think. Has anyone else been through this kind of review before? Alia
Guest guest
Hi Alia: Do you mean that you've gone through this before and they're reviewing it over again? Or do you mean that you're just starting the process? I wasn't sure which way you're talking about. Lou litleqtee@... wrote: I just got a letter that Social Security is reviewing my SSI case. Guest guest
Hi Alia! Because SSI is a supplemental income and not SSDI (which is disability completely based on medical information) it sounds as if this is how they do their reviews for SSI. I have SSDI and not SSI. Here is a link for you! I hope this helps and good luck! I am sure they just want to make sure that there has not been any income over what they allow. They do reviews for SSI and SSDI. http://www.ssa.gov/ssi/text-cdrs-ussi.htm
Guest guest
Alia, For SSI the SSA expects you to keep financial records, especially receipts because there are limits as to what you can buy with SSI. Not that anyone on SSI could live like the wealthy. Most receipts have no identifying information. You can get copies of your canceled checks from the bank. Have your parents write a letter explaining that they help you pay your expenses. Any questions ask, I'm not shy. Take care of you.
