Kishoreda,

U wouldnt probably want my Janamdin to be my Maran-diwas,by asking me to

disclose who sat in the empty set,next to me..during the Ghazal concert.:-))

 

Well,the truth was Seema,just like her patient, kept me guessing she would make

it,till the last 15mins,when she sadly announced, she may not be able to

come,giving me no time,to get anyone to come,for the show!!.:-(

 

On an ending note..I consider myself Sher still,Kishoreda.!!..

Sher before the marriage and Sher even after 19yrs of marriage..!!..

And many I know,to whom,I have disclosed this fact,r envious of my status...and

silently wanting to be like me..till someday,when I clarified this doubt,that..

Yes,I was a Sher before and Sher after..

only the major difference is that now,

Maa Durga mounts on Me(and directs my life)!!:-))))

So,I guess fearing Maa Durga,this Sher can never have the guts to make someone,

take her rightful seat,besides me...at the moment.

Thanx for ur lovely lines of welcome,sirjee.

Aapne Jagjit ji ke ghazal mein mujhe include kar ke,mera darjah badaa diya,.

I am thankful for ur birthday greetings.

 

To,Prabha,

Yes,we r INDEED lovable antiques,for our daughters.

And to go one step further,my daughter even chooses the dress and footwear,I

have to wear,for a meet,depending on, if it is formal,casual or taditional.

" Noooo Dad!!,not that,please. " .are lines,which I get to hear quite often,when I

try an decide the dress code,on my own free will..

 

I often keep echoing DilipKumar's line...

" Saala mujhe,mere beti ne, Sahaab bana diya..!! " ..

 

Frome a simple doc,from Sewagram,she now wants me to sport a trendy pen,a

signature perfume..,a classy cellphone..and a pricey branded suits...to be able

to,make her too,feel good,before I step out of the house...

But,I am not complaining, for a change.

I guess,we all need to keep up with times.

Thanx for ur kind words of Welcome and ur bday greetings..and ur tale of Pankaj

Ghazal concert,which was a soothing lullaby,to u,when u were in school.:-)

 

Well,yday,it looked like,the starved janata of our Apna Bharat,wanted more and

once more,to all his ghazals..which he sang,spanning 3 decades of his life as a

singer!.

Yes,I hope to continue to find time and  write here,on a regular basis.

Chicago looks submerged in snow..with all the cars,already covered completly by

4ft of snow!.

Pray and hope, my dear friends,Renuka and Ashok r fine and managing to stay

warm in this freezing temps.

Subject: The Best Birthday Gift..-To everyone

 

Hello everyone,

Today,was one of the rarest of rare times,when Birthday Gift meant.. " Truly

something Money could never buy. " .

Like,all the best wishes from all u friends out here...inspite of me being less

seen, out here.

It means a lot to me and reaffirms my firm belief,that I continue to live here,

in ur hearts each single day....

This is a Big Present from U all to Me.!

 

I remember,when Prof Kalantri,remarked,during our reunion,that " Shyam never goes

to sleep without penning an emil on MGIMS yahoo groups. " !

 

Yes,I did regulaly for many yrs..but the busy lifestyle, just did not permit me

to continue..and I had to be irregularly irregular..

Today,all ur greetings,here and some on FB,has made me very Happy.

I thank u all for ur love and fond remembrance.

 

Moving on..Let me tell u a shorty story,.

The Indian Embassy of Riyadh organised a cultural meet,on the eve of Republic

Day,wherein,they had invited Pankaj Udhaas,to be held on 1st(today) and 2nd

Feb..and somehow,I missed the deadline to apply for free passes,for my family(It

was a free concert).

Yday,I was just chatting with Dr.Kiran Swaroop and expressing my sadness..,when

he offered to hand me,his ( no ordinary passes,but )2 VVIP passes,which he had

got...for the same concert,right from the first Lady..Mrs Ambassador !!.

He handed them,to me..and I (unfortunately,Seema couldnt attend,due to her

patient,come for delivery)..went and got the front row seat,sitting besides the

Ambassador and his wife and Pankaj Udhaas and his troupe,right in front, on the

stage.

Pankaj regaled us with 15 of his top ghazals.10 of them old ones..and 5 new

ones,..and each Ghazal transported me,back to the glorious 80's..to the D block

hostels,when we would have half an hour of tea break,each nite,at sharp

1am......and sit back and enjoy one ghazal,while one of us would take turns to

make tea....

Brajpal Tyagi,Amol Kulkani,Late Sanjay Bharatiya,Late Hitesh Sehgal,Jagmohan

Gulati,Dhananjay Deuskar and Anil Mishra's faces all came floating in front..as

I relived..those times..when Pankaj-ji,sang.. " Chandi jaisa rang hain

tera " , " Diwaron se milkar rona..and Sab ko maloom hain main shaabi nahi,..in his

beautiful easy style and who continued to look just the same..

With excellent music scores,by his excellent musicians,including Pandit

Hariprasad Chaurasia's son..on the flute..,I felt,as if, I had reached Heaven

and back..many times!!.

 

Never could imagine,27yrs down the line,I would be seated in a front row seat

and hearing the same voice,we heard in our hostel rooms!!.

This goes to U ,Kiran Swaroop sirjee...for making me feel,so good today.

That is why I always say...

MGIMS FOLKS R THE BEST,always.
