I'm a little freaked out about putting hydrogen peroxide in my ears. It seems like it would feel pretty caustic. Does it? How soon do you feel it working?Do you just use "normal" hydrogen peroxide" you get from a drug store? (Is it sterile?-- i.e., clean enough for use in the ears).I put some cider vinegar in one ear (the worst one) last night. That seems to have helped some, though I used commercial vinegar. At the moment I don't have any raw, organic, etc. But I'd like to try the peroxide. n
Guest guest
Yes use normal 3% HP. If that makes you feel nervous, dilute it 50/50 first with water, preferably distilled. Try just a drop or 2, if you're OK with that, try more. When in doubt, take it slow. I've done the HP in the ears bit, no problems at all. It fizzes and bubbles, kind of weird. It's a little annoying afterwards having liquid in your ear, I used a rolled up tissue to try to clear it out. Guest guest
Yes, it's very effective. Feels like water, just that it fizzes as it works on organics. That's a good thing, because the fizzing tells you it's working and when it stops, you're done. Of course it's sterile, it kills stuff... I use regular drugstore variety 3% H2O2. some people get all bent out of shape insisting on food grade. That's nonsense. Chuck Clones are people two. Guest guest
Food Grade h2o2 being nonsense is only a point of view. I use 35% food grade diluted all the time. I am on oxygen 24/7 and one time I thought I would put a small amount of brown bottle 3% in the humidifier bottle on the concentrator. It made the tubing swell up and turned milky white. I said then if it does that to the tubing, what does it do to my lungs. Three or four years later I got 35% as I use 3% in my ears all the time. So, I decided to try it again in the humidifier bottle, Started off at about five drops and built up to twelve and have stayed there. No discoloration of tubing. So I'll stay with the Food Grade. Sure kicks a cold or flu when put in the ears and the earlier the better. I use straight 3%. Guest guest
: The same thing that makes peroxide work will make it work on most things as it eventually oxidizes them but will not ruin your lungs in process but will help them. When give via IV, they determine when you have had enough when your lungs begin to outgas oxygen and it feels like it is bubbling in your chest. Norprene, Tygon and sesveral other chemistries of tubing will stand up un peroxice and hydrogen peroxide. H2O2 will eat a rubber surgical glove in seconds but no your lungs in low concentrations. Also garlic oil or mullein oil (usually available at health food stores). I used the latter with great success for my daughter's ear infections when she was little.Good luck! Let us know what happens.Judith
Guest guest
There are some 3% H202 that do not have other harmful ingredients in it. One brand is Swan? (there is a drawing of a swan on the label) found at Walmart, but in a yahoogroup, this was mentioned, and i don't find it there anymore. Read the ingredients. Other people have called manufacturer and they say theirs is pure no other harmful ingredient in it.
Guest guest
Try mixing half H2O2 and half colloidal silver. The H2O2 will help the CS to penetrate so it can work. Guest guest
I have used h2o2 for an itching ear. It fizzed awhile, then stopped. Itch went away. I know a man who was advised by his doc to use white distilled vinegar for the same thing. He did and cured his ear infection immediately. We use it for washing all store-bought produce and to wash white clothes in lieu of clorox. and to wash floors, degrease, etc. It is far far cheaper than any apple cider vinegar. I use it for a 5 second rinse after brushing my teeth and using my water pik. I then rinse with water, then with mouthwash, then final rinse with water. I think it reduces plaque buildup, but it should only be used for a matter of a few seconds and immediately rinsed out. Over use or improper use would eat away tooth enamel. When I used it last night and this morning, it caused itching that nearly drove me crazy. That's not to say that it's not gradually helping. It now seems to be. But the effect (helpping effect) certainly has not been immediate in my case.I've used vinegar in my ears in the past. Sometimes it works; sometimes not. Actually, I have ear drops that are basically acetic acid in a purified oil base, which normally help to keep the Ph balance good in my ears. But when I occasionally get an infection, something else is needed. n__________________________________________n Van Til is the author of Confessions of a Catholic: My Life with the 10 Cats Who Caused My Addiction, soon to be released by WordPower Publishing--
Guest guest
In my experience using H2O2 in my ear does help to some extent but it doesn't finish the job and if used too often it dries out the tissues- not good for the ear drum. This is why I use an infusion of garlic in olive oil. It doesn't dry out the tissues and the garlic just sucks out the infection almost immediately and it doesn't come back. You can purchase this preparation or simply make it yourself. Only takes 1 drop so massive amounts are not necessary. Guest guest
DMSO, even just 10% mixed with CS will enhance delivery into cells. DMSO opens a pore in the cell membrane and actively transports the CS. I have used it orally to kick a flu bug that was trying to come back. Felt better within an hour. Guest guest
I would be afraid to try DMSO in my ear because of the potential for itching. I tried DMSO on my neck once (diluted) and the itching was pretty bad, I can't imagine that inside my ear canal where I can't scratch it. Guest guest
When I use DMSO in my ears it is always very dilute, 5% DMSO and 95% CS, it does not itch. I have also used Peppermint oil neat and then wiped my finger over it with 30% DMSO which does not deposit much, with no itching but great relieve of congestion. Guest guest
I have pure DMSO. So would I first dilute to 70% strength, then use it 1:10 DMSO:CS? Guest guest
No just use the pure DMSO to make 10% which would be one part DMSO and 9 parts CS. Measure out the CS and then add the measured DMSO to the CS slowly to control the heat release. It won't be much with a 10% solution but it's good practice. You just don't want to add the CS to pure DMSO, as the heat release is more concentrated.
