Is it OK to take milk thistle while you're on TX? What about if you're not

on TX but anti-depressants and blood pressure meds?

WulfeMom

tI would fall into the latter category..

All I can tell you is my liver enzymes have shot down (ALT is 81!!!)

since I started in on the Milk thistle...

I swear by it.

But isn't that the point? It is supposed to strengthen the liver while you

are taking it. When you stop, it stops. Vitamins work that way too--while

you take them, the body is healthier--deprive a person of vitamins, though,

and the body begins to suffer. Or food, for that matter. Cut off a

person's food supply, and they will starve and eventually die from

it. Would you say that vitamins and/or food " mask " starvation and

malnourishment? Or that they prevent them?

I don't think anyone has ever claimed it cured hcv, or at least I haven't

heard of it if they have. What I hear is that it helps the liver while you

take it.

(Just for the record--I no longer take milk thistle, as my doctor has

advised me that it interferes with other meds I take.)
