Guest guest
Diet Rite Cola is sweetened with Splenda, no aspartane! Splenda is a low cal sweetener actually made from sugar. Great for any low carb or South Beach type diets. Tastes like real sugar to me! Great job moderaters, great job Rick and the rest of you as well. The best defense is often a good laugh! Guest guest
Bob, LOL! Two points..... 1. I haven't been called " kid " for more years than I care to admit so Thank You sincerely! and 2. I'm not even sure if they're still available. Here in Australia I *think* we can still purchase them at the supermarket but they're kept under lock and key as a small portion of children learned how to make them explode and caused themselves injury. Hence they were taken from the shelves for safety sake. You could try your local hardware store as well as your local supermarket. They may still be available. Just make sure you get the soda 'bombs' (AKA cartridges) and not the cream whip 'bombs'. Different gas used. I learned the hard way - use a soda bomb to try and whip cream - BLEAH! Revolting! One last thing - if you enter " Soda Syphon " into the Google search engine there's a wealth of info there. anne Re: Non Aspartane sodas Say, kid, where could I get my hands on one of those " Gas bomb thingies " ? Guest guest
Bob, One does not have to revert to communism in order to maintain a sustainable ecosystem. Sure, large corporations provide jobs, but how many small buisnesses were lost in the process? Its about diversity and the decentralisation of wealth. The economy may be a great thing in the present, but it certainly will not help us out of the severe environmental degradation and depletion of resources that are happening now and will only get worse in the future.....especially as population increases and people seek to live with more " stuff " in their lives, especially the fashionable and disposable. Recycling is not the answer either. The answer lies within buying less, and disposing of less. Do we really need all this 'stuff' to make us happy? ineamer@... wrote: Considering that big corporations keep a great many people employed and have contributed to making our economy the most successful in the history of the world, I'm not so sure that Keeping them in business is necessarily a bad thing. Indeed, the last time a good many of them went out of business is known as The Great Depression ... not a fun time for anyone. The alternatives offered to capitalism, i.e., socialism and communism, have failed abysmally as well. I am of the opinion that once recycling becomes profitable, any environmental challenges will be overcome. I am, however, quite concerned about the caffeine in tea as well as the chemicals involved in any decaffeination process of same, so I will continue to research and I do appreciate the feedback. Guest guest
I am quite sure that there is a body of economic knowledge and demographic data to demonstrate that more small businesses are created by large businesses than are harmed. They often, however, are not the same. so there are some losers and some winners in any economic system. Capitalism has historically produced many more winners than losers, which is why it thrives and is the dominant world economic system. I do agree that we would all be healthier, happier, more productive and less destructive if we shifted focus from self to God and, by his command, to others. I pray that I do so as an individual and that society does so as a whole. I also believe that having a disease such as Hep C (And all that comes along with it) can place one in a more enlightened, appreciative and deliciously humble state. Often God allows sickness of the body in order to increase the health of the Spirit. Bob Drury

Green tea tastes good, and is pretty good for you too! Yes!! And (read the labels carefully first, to make sure there are no spices that are harmful to the liver like nutmeg) there are some great Celestial Seasonings teas in the supermarket--health food stores have them too, but you can get them at Walmart or wherever--that are just delicious hot OR iced. I love Red Zinger, but there are also Lemon Zinger and some other ones that are great. But some do have nutmeg in them, so be sure to read what's in them. Adding a little cranberry juice (found on the shelf at any supermarket) or grape or apple juice (frozen food section at the supermarket) also adds a lot of flavor. Watch the sales: sometimes our local non-chain supermarket will put frozen juices on sale, so when they do I stock up. Frozen, they keep for a long time. I don't have to worry about chlorine or any of those chemicals. We're out in the sticks, and have a good well--we get it tested every once in awhile just to make sure it's still good. It tastes just wonderful, although there are a lot of minerals in it. I'm with you on coke. Sure, I love the flavor, but I'd rather not put it in my body. By the way, when you were in high school chemistry class, did they do the same experiment that we did in ours (lo those many years ago)? In ours, they took a bottle of coke and put a nail in it and left it over night. The next morning, the nail had mostly dissolved; the following morning, it was completely dissolved. What does that mean for our bodies, I wonder?
