Just throwing out guesses here....

Maybe a bad shoulder dystocia?

That's the only thing I can think of. maybe the baby was fine during labor,

but just became shell shocked during delivery and it just took a few minutes

to come around. And there is always the possibility that the apgars were

misinterpreted.

In my area we do a 10 min. Apgar whenever the 5 min is <7. Perhaps the 10

min Apgar in this case was 9 or 10 (we have one neonatologist that likes to

give 10's) meaning the kid just had a very slow start! I agree with the

possibility of maternal drugs being a possibility (either analgesics OR self

induced)
