Janick,

Why does your fiance want to get rid of 2? Does he not like them? When I was

single all dates had to pass the cat test....if my cats didn't like them or they

didn't like my cats...they were outta there!

Apartment complexes can be tricky in regard to pets. If they say they have a

max of two chances are they will NEVER notice that you have 3...or you could try

to negotiate with them. If you want to try and find a private apartment or

house you'll prbably have more luck. Is this a permanent move or only

temporary?

Don't give up yet! It can be done! But if you do have to give your kitties

away...try and find someone you know. That way you can always keep tabs on

them.

stay. I know things are trickier for you since you are engaged and have a baby.

Before I was married and got a house, I managed to find houses and/or apartments

in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. that accepted pets by being very

persistent. It helps sometimes if you volunteer to pay an extra pet deposit so

that the owner knows you will be responsible for any damage. I'll be thinking

about you. I really hope you don't have to give up your " kids. "

Janick,

We're glad you're back posting with us. No need to apologize for

venting. I'm sorry you're having such a rough time finding a cat-

friendly apartment. Why does your fiance want to get rid of two?

I'm thinking of y'all (humans and furries).

Janick,

I'm thinking of you and hoping you find a place to live soon. So sorry

about your fiance vs cats situation - what's his problems with the 2 he

'wants rid of' ? I'd've thought he'd want rid of them all to make it easier

to find a place. Sorry that's perhaps a bit thoughtless of me, but I still

think it's a valid point.

I wish I lived nearer to you then I'd volunteer to foster your furry babies

if needed for as long as necessary. A friend did that for me and my dog

many years ago, but sadly he never did live with me again, my friend became

allergic to animals after having Aysha so she ended up finding him another

home and he was so happy there I couldn't ask for him back it wouldn't have

been fair for him. Perhaps someone you know could do this for you?

I really hope things work out for you, and vent as much as you need to,

that's what friends are for.

Jill

who could not part with her furry babies, and the men would go first!

I guess I don't understand the problem with allowing people to rent that

have cats. I would think my five children would be harder on an apartment

then any pets...lol!

Hope you find something..I understand that feeling of your pets being like

children.

Take care,

Kathy

Thanks Elena, , F and Jill for responding...

Actually, my fiance did pass the "kitty" test, but he's finding that with the baby around, we don't have as much time to take care of the cats. Since we don't spend as much time taking care of them, they are becoming somewhat annoying (especially one of the cats). This particular cat tried to lie on top of the baby while he was sleeping, and we were right in front of him... Since then, Gilbert (my fiance) wants that cat out!! Actually, the only cat he wants to keep is the one that has had the best attitude towards our little boy (the second cat he wants to get rid of has been really strange since Jordan's birth). Still, I firmly believe that the 3 of them have to adapt to their new "brother" and that eventually, they will be much easier to cope with. Anyways, I'll keep you all posted on what happens

I agree...my 2 cats have never done anything to any of the places we have

stayed at! My youngest one has ruined a chair, but nothing that doesn't

belong to us...

I've actually had landlords tell me on the phone (when I call to ask about a

possible apartment) that they will accept my cats only if they are

declawed...no thank you!
