Guest guest
Hi All Just wanted to drop in and say " HI!! " to all after my TC surgery. All went well and I'm doing fine, just trying to get my stamina back. I ended up with a kidney infection (not a big surprise) that kept me in the hospital a few extra days, but the surgery went very well. Of interest, Dr Milhorat and Dr Bolognese found that I had a fatty/thickened filum terminale that surprised them as it did not show on my MRI's. Also, they found no CSF flow at all around the bottom of the spinal cord. I'm write about the other details once I get the OR report. My memory of what Dr B told me in recovery room is foggy. All I know is that he was very excite that they found such a mess and thought I should really feel different. Well, upon waking in recovery, I found two new feet!! Unbelievable! I knew it immediately!! They have not hurt or swelled or burned at all since I woke up!! And the color is normal now, as they were always bluish/purplish before the surgery. The stiffness when I wake and when I sit for a long time is gone too. Also, my legs feel much stronger. They don't feel like I have weights tied to them anymore..... and I'm still recovering! I do steps much easier now and don't feel like I have to lift my legs out of bed or up the steps!! My diarrhea is gone, but I won't know for sure if that is permanent until I'm completely off my pain meds (only taking them at bedtime now). I can't tell with my bladder yet, as the after effects of a bad infection are still lingering. My headaches are still with me, but it will be a few months before I can judge that. Anyway, I'm soo glad to be home! The Variety House was really great and Denis was a big sweetie! Most of the nurses were great and the Physician's Assistant, , was an absolute angel!! What a God send she is!!! But there is no place like home!! Thanks so much to all that sent prayers and good wishes!! Much love and many blessings, Ann in the 'Burgh Chiari <5mm, TC, CCI, EDS Decompressed July, 2002 TC surgery August, 2007 VP shunt placed, failed and removed 2001 http://leslieann226.googlepages.com/home
